Babyshambles closed the 2006 Get Loaded In The Park festival yesterday (August 27), with a set which included Libertines classics ‘What Katie Did’ and ‘Time For Heroes’.Frontman Pete Doherty had been given special permission in his bail conditions to play the set, as he currently in rehab while awaiting sentencing for drugs charges. Referencing his predicament, the singer emerged on stage looking gaunt in a striped polo shirt, shouting: "Big up to The Priory and the Metropolitan Police".As his band followed him out a series of cuttings from newspaper headlines flashed across a screen behind them, highlighting words including: Crack, Pete and Kate. Playing songs including ‘Albion’, ‘Killamangiro’ and ‘Pipe Down’, Doherty also paid tribute to Lily Allen, who had played earlier in the day, by performing a brief ska version of her number one hit ‘Smile’.Babyshambles then completed their with an extended version of ‘Fuck Forever’.Scottish breakdance trio The Cuban Brothers compared and DJed the event, at one point dedicating the Mark Ronson version of Radiohead classic ‘Creep’ to "A man called Thom Yorke".They also introduced Babyshambles by asking the crowd to "Say hello to someone who has caused so much controversy: Pete Doherty and Babyshambles". Doherty had to return to his rehab at The Priory following the show. As previously reported, he is due in court for sentencing on September 4 and has been warned by magistrates he faces "the possibility of custody".

Rehabed singers unite |

WHEN I heard PETE DOHERTY, JUSTIN HAWKINS and TOM CHAPLIN were all in The Priory, I joked that they should form a supergroup. And in a quirk of showbiz fate, my prediction has come true.Keane singer Tom, Darkness frontman Justin and Babyshambles’ Pete have struck up a close relationship during their treatment at the north London rehab clinic. After getting to know each other in group therapy classes, the troubled trio have turned to writing music in a bid to help them cope with their woes.An insider said: “Justin checked in to rehab first, followed by Tom and Pete not long after. “They all vaguely knew each other before but when they found themselves meeting in difficult circumstances it somehow made them click. Being in rehab is strange at the best of times. But when you find yourself in there with other famous faces it’s even more odd. “Tom was the first to play the piano in one session for some of the patients. After that Pete and Justin chipped in and suggested they write some music. “Pete and Justin have struck up a particularly strong friendship and Pete has invited Justin to perform with Babyshambles this weekend.” I have to point out the dramatic U-turn in Justin’s friendship with Pete. Only last year the falsetto warbler said he thought Pete was “a waste of skin”. His stint in the clinic must have damaged his memory. I revealed on Tuesday that posh rocker Tom was getting treatment for cocaine addiction. I’m sure his record label will start worrying when they hear he has Potty Pete for company in rehab. Justin, Tom and Pete — or Sobertramp as I have christened them — have been lazing around on the lawn discussing their addictions over cups of tea. It’s Doherty’s eighth, ahem, crack at cleaning up — his third spell in The Priory. He was ordered in last week as a condition of his bail after being caught in possession of almost every Class A under the sun.

Funny part I thought the same thing when I heard all three were in rehab, just did not know if they were in the same rehab. Can you imagine if they released an album?

PETE Doherty punched a nurse and trashed his own room in a rehab clinic as the out-of-control crack addict went berserk. The Babyshambles singer – desperately pining for supermodel lover Kate Moss – turned violent after screaming foul-mouthed abuse at a male nurse who told him to attend more therapy sessions for his drug habits Doherty, 27, punched the medical man, kicked the door and slammed walls with his hands during the tantrum at the Priory clinic on Sunday night.
So I guess rehab is working out for him. So sad.

Jackie Doherty has spoken openly about her son Pete in an interview for the first time. "I remember being so proud of my children who were bright," she told The Times. "They would never take drugs or break the law; they were past their teenage years and we’d sailed through those without a hitch." "We haven’t suffered as much as other families of junkies," she added. "Pete’s never stolen from us, never beaten us for money, never brought trouble to our door."Jackie’s book about the Babyshambles frontman, titled Pete Doherty: My Prodigal Son, is published on 11 September.
