Jessica Simpson will appear on the first episode of The View to star new cohost Rosie O’Donnell, on Sept. 5, PEOPLE has learned. "Rosie herself reached out to Jessica," says a source close to Simpson about the singer-actress’s guest shot. The two have a long history together, going back to The Rosie O’Donnell Show, which aired from 1996-2002, when O’Donnell was riding the crest as TV’s highly rated "Queen of Nice." "When Jessica was just starting out, none of the big shows were interested in her, but Rosie took a chance on her and Jessica never forgot it," says the source. It wasn’t just a break that O’Donnell provided, but encouragement. "When Jessica was on The Rosie O’Donnell Show years ago," the source went on to say, "Rosie went backstage afterwards and said, ‘You’re gonna be a star.’ " Adds the source: "Jessica will never forget her."

Was Nick Lachey being watched in the months before he and Jessica Simpson divorced? Sources say Jessica’s manager dad, Joe Simpson, was mighty curious about what his son-in-law was up to during the seven-month separation before the marriage officially ended June 30. He particularly wanted to know what Lachey was doing on a night last spring when both Nick’s soon-to-be girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo, and Jessica’s friend and former assistant CaCee Cobb were all in the same nightclub. "Joe called the club people after hearing Nick was there and demanded to see the security videotape," says an insider. The club declined to cooperate. According to the source: "Joe was looking to incriminate Nick. He told the club, ‘If you ever want to see my daughter there, you’ll give me what I want.’" A rep for the Simpson camp dismissed the story as preposterous.

POP star Jessica Simpson was left battered and bruised after a roller-skating accident while filming her latest music video A Public Affair. Jessica filmed the clip with pals Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate and Christina Milian and admits she may have needed a little more practice. She explains: "Those roller skates weren’t my friends! I have bruises all over, including this one on my thigh. "My wheel got caught on the stopper of my other skate, and I totally bit it (fell down)."I thought I’d get trampled by the skaters behind me. But I was more worried about my hair extensions coming out or my face being demolished!"

She’s got a huge teen following, so it makes perfect sense that JESSICA SIMPSON has been chosen to co-host the 2006 Teen Choice Awards.
FOX announced on Tuesday that the 26-year-old singer will serve as master of ceremonies for the August 20 event, with a hosting partner to be revealed at a later date.
Among the categories that set this awards show apart from others include Choice Hissy Fit, Choice Rock Track and Choice Hottie, which Jessica herself is nominated for.
Jessica’s next album, A Public Affair, debuts August 29 and her upcoming movie, ‘Employee of the Month,’ will be in theaters September 15.

ASHLEE SIMPSON turned down $4 million (GBP2.2 million) to pose naked in Playboy magazine because she wants to save her body for her boyfriend BRAXTON OLITA. Despite the staggering offer, the singer says she was reluctant to share herself with millions of male readers. She says, "My body is for me and my love interest, and that’s the only person who gets to see it."
