Is Howie Mandel the new David Hasselhoff?
January 9th, 2010 under NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

Earlier in the week it was announced that David Hasselhoff was hoff of America’s Got Talent. Well today Life & Style is reporting that Howie Mandel is replacing him as a judge on the show. I am kind of bummed that he is the one replacing him, not because I don’t think he will do a good job but because I wanted to have Paula Abdul judging a talent competition again. Plus she is more like David than Howie.
While this is still a rumor, hopefully NBC will confirm or deny this tomorrow in between all of the Leno/Conan questions at the TCA Winter Press Tour Day.

UPDATE: A spokesperson from NBC, who works on the show, says that they are not commenting on rumor.

One last Sing-Off tonight!
December 16th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight is the final performance show for The Sing-Off on NBC at 8p and then we get to vote for which a cappella group we want to win the $100,000 prize and an Epic Records/Sony contract on Monday. I have no idea who is going to win, but I am going to miss the performances. Watching tonight’s opening number just made me feel good. There is something about a cappella that just makes me smile. Hopefully NBC will renew this show and let us have more of a say who makes it to the finals! Afterall the show is doing well in the ratings, so I am sure they are considering it?

Heroes season finale to air on February 8th
December 14th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

NBC announced their mid-season premiere dates and in doing so they said that Heroes will air its season (series?) finale on February 8th. I fear with such an early end date for the show, that it really might be Heroes series finale, but considering how most of the other shows are doing on NBC maybe there is a glimmer of hope the show will be back for another season.
I know I should be on the Parenthood bandwagon, but I personally never got everyone’s obsession with Lauren Graham. When Maura Tierney was able to star on the show, I was looking forward to it, but I lost that excitement when they replaced her with Graham. But what I am looking forward to is Celebrity Apprentice, with both Cyndi Lauper and Sharon Osbourne on the show I wonder who Donald Trump will hire. My money is on Sharon Osbourne, who do you think?

Get your Sing-Off on tonight!!!
December 14th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: 2 ]

Tonight NBC launches a 4-night event with The Sing-Off that is hosted by Nick Lachey. The a capella competition is all about the singers’ voices and not about the music accompanying them because there is none. So that opening number from tonight’s show that you just listened to had absolutely no music helping them out, and the musical sound was created by the organ G-d gave them. How freaking awesome is that and amazing do they sound together! I so can’t wait to watch the 8 groups performing starting tonight at 8p. They will compete tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday and a winner will be announced next Monday. The winner get a $100,000 prize and an Epic Records/Sony contract.

I want you to watch The Sing-Off Monday night on NBC
December 8th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

On Monday night at 8p The Sing Off will premiere on NBC. Unlike other singing competitions this one is just about the voices because the 8 competing groups are all performing a cappella. So there will be no music accompaniment, it will just be all about the gift G-d gave them.
The Sing-Off will air on NBC next Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and then the winner will be announced on December 21st. The winning group of the 4 night event gets $100,000 and a Epic Records/Sony Music recording contract. Not a bad prize for them and for us because we get an a cappella album that will be mainstream. Can you tell I love love love a cappella music?
The Sing-Off is hosted by Nick Lachey and the judges are Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman for Boyz II Men and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls. But the show is not about just them, it is about the groups and one of them has a story that will warm your heart. Face is an a cappella group from Boulder, Co. and they really are a close knit group. When one of the members’ wives was diagnosed with breast cancer and could not have children, one of the other singer’s wives carried the baby for them. How many groups or bands have you ever heard a story like that? I can’t wait to hear them tell that story, but even more I can’t to wait to hear them do there thing!
So make sure tune into NBC on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8p for a singing competition unlike any other we have seen or heard before!!!
