We grew up listening to Fountains of Wayne’s Stacy’s Mom and thought it was a catchy song. But Will King just showed us that she is someone who Chris Hansen would catch.
As King hysterically pointed out, why are they singing about Stacy’s mom tempting a barely teenage boy who is friends with her young daughter?
I never thought about it in that way. And now I will never be able to listen to it in the same way as I used to. I won’t stop listening to it because my name is Stacy. I just won’t listen to it like I used to.
Do you have a whole new outlook on the earworm?

Now that we are days away from the start of pumpkin season, that means that Summer is almost over. Therefore, it is time to declare what is the song of the summer.
Is it Lizzo’s About Damn Time or Harry Styles’ As It Was? Neither. It is DJ Earworm’s Summermash ’22. The earworm tune includes those two songs and Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill, Jack Harlow’s First Class, Joji’s Glimpse of Us, Nicky Youre & Dazy’s Sunroof, Harry Styles’ Late Night Talking, Bad Bunny’s Me Porto Bonito, Calvin Harris with Dua Lipa & Young Thug’s Potion, KAROL G’s PROVENZA, Camila Cabello’s (feat. Ed Sheeran) Bam Bam, and Doja Cat’s Vegas.
I don’t know about you, but I will be listening to this jam until peppermint season, aka Winter.
Oh, and the mix would’ve been perfect if they included just one more song, and that is the song of the summer. Where was Charlie Puth and JungKook’s Left and Right?
Lisa Hartman Black did a photoshoot, and her husband, Clint Black, helped out to make her look even more fabulous than she already does. How? He got out his leaf blower and gave her that winded look that all the models love because it makes her locks flow effortlessly.
So you could say, now, the Country singer is the one giving her a blow job instead of the other way around.
I apologize to the Blacks, but I had to do it. I am so sorry.
Prince and Morris Day go back a long time. The two of them went to high school together. So when Prince was able to create his own bands under the Warner Bros. label, he created one for his chum.
So ever since 1981 (with a few hiatuses), Day and the band that Prince created has been going by Morris Day and the Time, and no one had a problem with it. The band was even one of the few selected musicians to play at Prince’s Tribute Show shortly after he died.
Thus, you would think everything would be good between Day and the Prince Estate. It is not. Day claimed on Facebook today the estate sent him a notice telling him he can no longer use The Time as the band’s name.
I’ve given 40 years of my life building up a name and legacy that Prince and I came up with. A name that while he was alive, he had no problem with me using. I Literally put my blood, sweat, and tears into bringing value to that name. In fact, he booked me on several tours, and many jam packed nights at paisley park, under the name Morris Day & The Time. Not once ever saying to me that I couldn’t use that name configuration.. However, now that Prince is no longer with us – suddenly, the people who control his multi million dollar estate, want to rewrite history by taking my name away from me, thus impacting how i feed my family. So as of now, per the Prince Estate, can no longer use Morris Day & The Time in any capacity.
Why now, almost six years after Prince died? I am just guessing here, but his estate was finally settled in January, and distribution was expected to begin last month, according to the Star Tribune. However, lawyers and taxes took a big chunk of it. I am assuming the family would like more money, so they could be looking to sell his catalog to a label for millions, which might include The Time’s tunes. And I am guessing that would mean their name would not be theirs anymore. But I am just spitballing here.
Personally, I think the band should be able to keep their name because, after all of this time, it is their name. How many Motown groups are touring without any of the original lineup and still using the same name as the band whose songs they are singing.
Styx have been making beautiful music for 50 years, and they are hoping to do it for 50 more.
They are not the only ones who hope this happens. Ever since they asked us to Come Sail Away with them, we have been Ridin’ the Storm Out With them ever since. And we plan on doing so for as long as Mr. Roboto tells us to.
Because we Can’t Fight This Feeling for how much we love them!
Oh, and this Lady is still crushing on Tommy Shaw. Can you believe he is 68? He looks just like he did when he joined the band in 75.
