Some countries ban movies because of their content, but Hellboy has an interesting problem in the Bible Belt. Since H-E-Double Hockey Sticks is a bad word there, how are movie theaters going to let their audience know the film is playing at their location on the billboard outside. As you can see in the photo shared by Amber E., they call it Heckboy. Which doesn’t sound as enticing.
BTW I find it interesting that the theater has no problem showing the extremely graphic and very bloody movie Unplanned, but they can’t publicize the word hell. Such hypocrisy.
There was something about ’80s horror that made it so scary. It was so simplistic and you were more afraid of what you did not see than what you did see.
Then came CGI and you see more than you need to. Not only that, so many of these horror directors use the same techniques, so it all seems the same no matter what the movie is.
In recent years, Hollywood remade Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Poltergeist. All those movies were promised sequels that were never made. Why? Because CGI ruined them. Yes, there was a Halloween 2, but not a 3 as reported.
You would think that Hollywood would have learned its lesson, but no. Only June 21st, Child’s Play is back in theaters. This time the talking killer doll is being aided by modern technology. Which makes me wonder, why not just use another doll instead of Chucky to tell the story?
Another problem with today’s horror is they took all the comedy out of the genre. That is why we still talk about the horror franchises from the past and not the new ones. A murdering doll that is possessed by death row inmate is so absurd that the movie has to be the same. The second you make it seem like it is real and take it seriously is when you lose the audience.
I am sure I will eventually see this Child’s Play, and hate it. Sorry, Mark Hamill, I love you, but I cannot support you as Chucky.
I really wish Hollywood would try to be original and stop redoing stuff from their childhood. It is never as good.
For some reason they are reimaging Child’s Play even though the original creator Don Mancini is still making movies with the franchise.
Today, we got a look at the new Chucky and CGI ruins everything. As you can see he is not as creepy because he does not look like a real doll. That is why the original killer toy still haunts us until this day.
What do you think? Do you want to see the new Chucky on September 21st or do you prefer to watch the original?
The first trailer is out for The Addams Family animated movie and it is worse than the poster. Kids will like this movie because they like anything animated or why else would there be sequels to Secret Life of Pets and Angry Birds, but adults will hate it. Even the ones that did not grown up with the series or the movies will hate it.
I want to say something positive about it, but I can’t. Are you dying to see this Halloween.
Unplanned, if you have not heard, is an anti-abortion movie. They have no qualms of showing you that in the first few minutes of the film in a scene that made this girl, who has seen thousands of horror movies, squirm and cover her eyes.
They show a woman getting an abortion, something that we have seen before, but in a way that is really hard to watch. Abby, the central figure, was doing a sonogram on a woman as it was happening. You can see a fully formed fetus being sucked out. You can be pro-choice and still be horrified by that image that will stay with you for a long time.
It does not stop there, Abby takes the abortion pill to terminate a pregnancy. She starts bleeding, so she runs into the shower. As she is taking the shower, the fetus drops out of her and she throws it in the toilet.
And there is more. A teenager has an abortion done and something goes wrong. She is bleeding profusely. They rush her back into the room and you just see them sucking up even more blood.
That is just the graphic scenes. The movie portrays the female boss as an extreme heartless bitch. She is like we need to do abortions and that is how we make our money. When Abby takes a pregnancy test and it turns out positive, the boss says to her very abruptly I can handle that for you.
Later on in the movie, the two women have it out and Abby is reprimanded for insubordination. Shortly, after that, she witnessed the abortion on the sonogram and quits.
Which makes think that Abby could be a disgruntled employee getting revenge on Planned Parenthood for whatever reason.
I do not know how Planned Parenthood works internally nor what goes during an abortion. I am sure some of it they got right, and I am also sure they exaggerated a lot of it to make their point.
It is a one-sided story where abortion is bad and that is it.
They say things like Scared Straight do not work. Fear does not tell someone not to do something. Which is why I hate those smoking commercials.
I have my opinion on abortion, they have theirs. When it comes to the movie, I do not think it is appropriate for teens. I don’t even think it is appropriate for adults and I have seen a lot of gruesome deaths in horror movies and this was way too much for me. Give me Saw anyday of the week over this.
When it comes to why I saw the movie, I believe in knowing both sides of the story. I enjoy watching movies about Faith. This is not about faith, it is about preaching that abortion is wrong. Yet, they do not offer any alternatives. They make it seem like women go into the Planned Parenthood, have the abortion and are like let’s go party. No woman I know, whoever had an abortion was like that. They are regrets, but not as many if they had the child at that time.
I was not going to go there, but I am. It is not our place to tell someone else what to do with their bodies.
I just think it is ridiculous that the people who are so anti-abortion are the same ones who do not want to give that woman and her child healthcare or any care. Life does not stop mattering when you are born. That is when it starts. You cannot tell someone to have a baby and not offer her any help. If the men want her to have it so badly, then how about they raise their child after it is born. We won’t be debating abortion again after that.
I can see the creators of this movie being like well now they know how we feel when they depict abortion. Which I guess makes sense, except we don’t show you all those graphic scenes. Although, they are the first group to complain if there is there violence on TV. It works both ways. And I wish they would have shown even a little something from the other side of the issue.
We have become so onesided and that is very dangerous. See what is going on in America today. Thus, why this movie is so controversial and rightfully so.
