I love Horror movies, and my favorite type of them is really low-budget ’80s slasher films. They were so bad; they were awesome. It was the bad acting and the cheap special effects that I love so much. It was obvious they were using props you would find in a Halloween store for the bloody murder scenes. Even the killers’ backstories were as ludicrous as the murders they committed. The films were in on the joke, and that is what made them fun.
Today’s horror movies rely heavily on CGI and sadism. They took the fun out of the genre. But every now and again, there comes a movie that recaptures that feel. Evil Everywhere is one of those pictures.
It is described as, “In 1985, an ancient evil began slaughtering the high school senior class in alphabetical order – but it was stopped. Two years later it has resurfaced, and a trio of friends must join together against the demonic force that is claiming new young lives. But what they discover is more complicated and evil than any of them imagined.”
If you are into this type of movie like I am, then you will want to mark May 25th on your calendar. That is when it will be available on Home Video.
I like Kyle Chandler. I just don’t like the Godzilla movie he does. I am not the only one. Everyone has been trashing Godzilla vs Kong. They have a big budget, and yet their film still sucks bigger than King Kong’s balls.
Then there is The Asylum, who makes cheap versions of blockbuster movies like Snakes on a Train, Geo-Disaster, and Independents’ Day, to name a few. Even though they spend millions of dollars less than the big studios, their movies are more enjoyable.
Therefore, they are getting ready to release Ape vs Monster, which is their version of Godzilla vs Kong. After watching the trailer, I would rather watch the cheap version than the expensive one. Why waste the money on crap when you can watch the same crap for less?
We all grew up reading at least one of Judy Blume’s books and even watched some of them be made into Hollywood productions. One of the books we have been waiting to get that treatment is, Are You There Gd? It’s Me, Margeret. Well, the wait is almost over because they started filming the movie.
If you thought we were excited about that, we have nothing on Judy Blume. She has been waiting over 50 years for this to happen for her 1970 novel, and the day is finally here for the 82-year-old author. That is why she is smiling as big as she on the set of the film.
Seeing her holding the movie clapper like that makes me as happy as when I read her books as a kid. How could you not love reading Fudge or Freckle Juice?
Movie theaters have been shut down for over a year now, and some of them are never going to reopen. Today, Pacific Theatres, which also owns Arclight Cinemas and Cinerama Dome, announced today that the curtain will never go up again.
“After shutting our doors more than a year ago, today we must share the difficult and sad news that Pacific will not be reopening its ArcLight Cinemas and Pacific Theatres locations,” Pacific Theatres wrote in a statement.
“This was not the outcome anyone wanted, but despite a huge effort that exhausted all potential options, the company does not have a viable way forward.
“To all the Pacific and ArcLight employees who have devoted their professional lives to making our theaters the very best places in the world to see movies: we are grateful for your service and your dedication to our customers.
“To our guests and members of the film industry who have made going to the movies such a magical experience over the years: our deepest thanks. It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you.”
The news is incredibly sad because we are going to need to go to the movies again when we can and feel up to it. I know that their theaters in Los Angeles are located in areas, like The Grove, that need them to reopen to help the businesses in the malls. Stores are helpful, but people like to go to the movies and eat. Without the former, there is not as much reason for the latter.
I think now that many of the studios have streaming sites to also show their movies, they are going to have to lower the cost they charge movie theaters to screen their films if they want to see their features on the big screen. We need to save theaters because there is nothing like seeing an action film in a theater.
There is also nothing like seeing a movie in the Cinerama Dome. It is one of the most famed theaters in the world, and it is owned by Pacific Theatres. Therefore, it was also shut down. I am sure they are going to find a way to save it. At least I hope they do.
The Shining is said to be one of the scariest Horror movies ever made, but what if it was a completely different genre? Logan Cuddemi deredrum it when imagined it as a ’90s sitcom. What would happen if the empty hotel became a full house? It is a take you have to see to believe.
BTW Where is Jack Nicholson? I miss his shining personality.
