Seriously? OMG! WTF?

"Let’s Face It" is the title of a nonfiction book I’m writing.

In it, I criticize Mel Gibson’s "The Passion of the Christ" for anti-Semitism. But I still wrote: "I don’t find Mel Gibson anti-Semitic. He worked with Jews and has many Jewish friends." I wrote this in spite of the fact that his father, Hutton Gibson, is an anti-Semite and denier of the Holocaust.

And then Mel got drunk and ranted about "sugar tits" and the "f– Jews always starting a war." There is a Talmudic saying: "When wine comes in, truth goes out." I believe that. Within the deep recesses of his mind, there apparently lies a cancerous sore of hatred for the Jews.

When Hezbollah dug a tunnel into Israel, killed eight soldiers, kidnapped two more and showered Israel with bombs, did Mel think that the Jews were starting a war?

Mel’s first apology was too contrite and seemingly not remorseful. His second was an afterthought — oh yes, about those Jews.

Of course, it may be too difficult to deal with the huge amount of money and worldwide fame that his prodigious talent brought him. Did these successes lead to his alcoholism? This is a serious problem that Mel has to face.

After many years of rehabilitation, our son Eric died from an overdose. The experts could only console us with the three C’s:

You didn’t cause it.

You can’t control it.

You can’t cure it.

How ironic is it that Mel’s television production company was preparing a series on the Holocaust? It has been canceled.

Mel is now ready to talk with a Jewish group or a rabbi. I disagree. He is a Catholic and appears to need some spiritual guidance. Perhaps he should first talk to one of his own faith. Maybe Cardinal Roger Mahony could be a great help.

Whether it is about self-hate, or hatred of others — let’s face it — Mel is in a mess.

Mel Gibson’s movie "Apocalypto," which Disney was supposed to release on Dec. 8, is "being shopped" to other potential distributors, sources tell me.One potential distributor for "Apocalypto" is Lions Gate, an independent company with a history of rescuing distressed projects. In the past they’ve picked up Kevin Smith’s "Dogma" and Michael Moore’s "Fahrenheit 911" when Miramax was prevented from putting them out by their own agreements with Disney.And that will be ironic since once again Disney finds itself in the position of having a movie it no longer wants.This column was the first to speculate more than a week ago that since Mel Gibson’s arrest for drunk driving and the scandal involving his anti-Semitic tirade, Disney would not want to invest any money into "Apocalypto," which already was an iffy project at best.A spokesperson for Lions Gate declined to comment on whether the company had talked to Disney or Gibson. At the same time, a reliable insider who knew the players in this game assured me that Disney was quietly shopping the film and that Lions Gate was first on its list of hopeful buyers.

They do whatever they want."According to one story repeated by neighbors, Gibson’s high-school sons tried to buy two kayaks from a surf shop and demanded the store put them on credit. When told the family didn’t have an account there, a source says, "They got very angry and started shouting, ‘Don’t you know who we are?’ " (Staffers at Zuma Jay’s and the Malibu Surf Shack, the two kayak stores in Malibu, say they don’t recall such an incident.)Malibu resident Shari Nassimi also finds the Gibson spawn wayward, but in an unspecified way. In a letter to the editor of Surf Rider News, Nassimi writes, "If Mr. Gibson would only pay attention to his own family and children, [who] have had issues of their own . . . he would [stop] perpetuating what he points to in others as evil."

Well when all your dad does is drink and throw money at you what do you expect from them? 

Comedy Central, which leaped into its archives and reaired a South Park episode lampooning Tom Cruise when the episode was nominated for an Emmy, announced over the weekend that it will rerun an episode that was aimed at Mel Gibson on Wednesday night. The episode, which aired in 2004, is called "The Passion of the Jew," a take-off on Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ and at one point implies that Gibson is an anti-Semite. Meanwhile, TV Guide is reporting that Icon Productions, Mel Gibson’s production company, is planning to battle ABC if it refuses to proceed with a planned miniseries that deals in part with the Holocaust — or if it engages another production company to take on the project.

EMBATTLED Hollywood drunk Mel Gibson is believed to be in discussions to join a revival of the Lethal Weapon film franchise to win back some of his fan base – if he can stay out of jail. Met by public outrage last week over his anti-Semitic outburst when he was arrested for drink driving in LA, the 50-year-old star has seen his schedule suddenly clear up. Industry insiders suggest he is set to jump on board for Lethal Weapon 5 – which would be the final instalment of the police franchise he starred in alongside Danny Glover. "It wouldn’t hurt on the PR front to give fans another Lethal Weapon," one insider said. Gibson has previously knocked back strapping on the holster for another movie in the series, including a whopping $40 million offer in 2004. But it is understood he is now considering signing up in light of his rant.

This movie has been rumored for a while, but not sure if that movie can do well because so much time has passed. That and it has anti-semite in it and the director is Jewish.
