Matthew McConaughey is branching out into the music business and he is doing so for his first artist Mishka! just keep living
just released their first CD Mishka’s Above The Moon which just debuted on the Billboard Reggae charts at #1!
The album started as an independent project produced by Mishka and Guitarist Darryl Thompson but was finished with the creative assistance of Matthew McConaughey. It was essentially tracked live with minimal overdubs. “Darryl has played for many years with Peter Tosh and Black Uhuru, but he has a background mainly in rock and blues†Mishka says of Darryl. “He could hear the folk, soul and reggae in the music and really helped bring the songs to lifeâ€Â. “Matthew (McConaughey) has a good ear for picking out the best elements of a song and really brought his positive energy and enthusiasm to the studio.â€Â
With an album that fully realizes his multifaceted musical vision, Mishka and his band will take to the road, sharing his positive vibrations and his global musical vision with fans old and new.
A few weeks ago Matthew McConaughey was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and he was telling the story how he saw Mishka perform in Jamaica and sought him out for years, because he was so impressed by his music, but to no avail. Finally after 4 years his friends found Mishka performing in Ireland and they were able to get McConaughey his contact info and two formed a friendship that would lead to one starting a record label and the other one being his first artist.
After I saw that interview I was really touched how McConaughey believed so much in Mishka that not only did he start a label for him, but he is helping to promote it but not in an in-your-face way, but a way where you can tell he truly believes in his artist! There are not that many people in this town that are like that. So when I see someone like that I believe in promoting it too!!! But as I say that, what they selling has to be worth buying…and after listening to some of the tracks on Mishka’s website and Mishka’s MySpace I can say it is really worth buying!!! His music with his melodic voice has that perfect calming sound that will help relax you after a bad day at work and also the good ones!!!
And finally if you want to see Mishka perform live, here is where he will be performing!

OK! Magazine has the first pictures of Matthew McConaughey's little Surfer, Dude Levi and he looks just like his mom with his dad's expressions! Matthew and Camilla believe it or chose not to know the sex of their baby before he was born.
The Texas-born actor says he cut the umbilical cord in "one snip" and got to hold his son for the first 15 minutes while doctors worked on Camila. Both he and the Brazilian beauty — who waited to know the sex of their baby — say they were not surprised to find out they had a boy.
"I said, 'Come here, little man. I saw the pecker and screamed that we'd been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to her [Camila],' Matthew said.
"It was neat to find out what the sex was because we didn't have the doctor tell us beforehand," Camila agrees.
Cute story, check out the hard copy of OK! Magazine out tomorrow for more stories about little Levi and more pictures of the camera ready family!
