LOST set not affected by the Quake
October 16th, 2006 under Lost. [ Comments: none ]

An ABC spokesperson confirmed Monday that production for Lost was unaffected by the earthquakes that rocked Hawaii on Sunday morning. The ABC drama was shooting on a full schedule Monday. ABC’s reality series Supernanny also happened to be shooting at the time in Honolulu, though the show’s star Jo Frost was not on set Sunday. The show did, however, continue shooting Sunday using generators for power.

Admit it, how many of you when you first heard about the Quake wondered if everything and everyone from LOST was ok before you thought about the people that were affected by the Quake?

Looks like ABC is really nervous about LOST losing viewers?
October 13th, 2006 under Lost. [ Comments: none ]

ABC is at odds with Nielsen Media Research over a Sept. 27 clip show of the drama series Lost that Nielsen has counted as part of the show’s regular-season ratings. ABC officials say the show was a special that aired the week before the show’s season premiere and should not be included in Lost’s regular season-to-date ratings. The show only earned a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 and only 9 million total viewers, compared to the first two episodes of the regular series this season, which recorded an average 7.3 in 18-49 and 17.8 million viewers. A Nielsen representative said the Sept. 27 episode aired in the regular Lost time period and Nielsen rules state that a clip show special must air in another time period, possibly preceding an actual series episode on the same night, for it to be considered a special episode of that series. Nielsen’s decision could create headaches for media agencies, which will have to filter out the clip show ratings when determining whether ABC ad package guarantees are met. Discussions are now taking place between Nielsen, which is owned by Mediaweek parent VNU, and ABC to try to resolve the matter.

I still have not seen the second episode of this season, but the first one did not impress me much. They are adding too many new characters and I just don’t care to know about them all.

LOST losing viewers

At 9 p.m., CBS’ Criminal Minds actually moved ahead of ABC’s Lost in the overnights, while trailing in total viewers by just 180,000 — an amazing accomplishment (and a cause of great concern for ABC once new Taye Diggs drama Day Break temporarily steps in for three months in November). Take a look:

Wednesday 9 p.m.
Lost (ABC)
Overnights: 11.4/17 (#2), Viewers: 16.66 million (#1); A18-49: 6.7/17 (#1)

Criminal Minds (CBS)
Overnights: 11.9/17 (#1), Viewers: 16.48 million (#2), A18-49: 4.4/11 (#2)

While Lost is certainly still is garnering attention, notice the erosion from the year-ago evening:

Lost (ABC)
10/12/05 – Overnights: 14.0/20 (#1), Viewers: 21.66 million (#1), A18-49: 9.4/22 (#1)
10/11/06 – Overnights: 11.4/17 (#2), Viewers: 16.66 million (#1), A18-49: 6.7/17 (#1)

Percent Change – Overnights: -19, Viewers: -23, A18-49: -28

And, to make matters worse, Lost declined from the second half of Dancing With the Stars (Overnights: 13.6/20, Viewers: 19.52 million; A18-49: 5.1/14 at 8:30 p.m.) by 16 percent in the overnights and 2.96 million viewers. Should ABC be concerned? Personally, I would be.

Wow! I am blown away by the numbers and not the referring to 4-8-15-16-23-42, but you know the show is not as good as the first season when it was all about the original survivors of Flight 815!

LOST actors fear being written off
October 10th, 2006 under Lost. [ Comments: none ]

Josh Holloway, who plays conman Sawyer in the popular TV drama Lost, sometimes worries that the show’s twisting, secretive plot will put him out of work. "Everybody in the cast worries about being killed off, and we wouldn’t know until they handed us the script – three days before shooting," the 37-year-old actor says in the November issue of US magazine Men’s Journal. "It’s a sensitive issue… Most of us aren’t in our twenties anymore." Holloway’s Sawyer has developed into both a villain and a fan favourite. "It still shocks me how people love him," he says. "But my take on guys like him is they’re just dudes who have a different perspective on how to survive. Truth is, there’s a little Sawyer in all of us, and that’s why people get into him." He’ll play another bad boy – a kidnapper – in the thriller The Whisper, set for release next year. "It’s a fun movie, but I’m looking to do a really different role next, more of a character who maybe even keeps his shirt on most of the time."

Very interesting! But if you think about it the only ones killed off so far were the two hot actors in their 20’s and the two actors who got arrested DUI, so Josh Holloway should be safe?

Lost lovers taking a kissing break
October 9th, 2006 under Lost. [ Comments: none ]

They’re Lost all right… lost in each other’s arms. Evangeline Lilly and her fiancé Dominic Monaghan, were spotted in Hawaii yesterday, where the Channel 4 hit drama is filmed They were spending their afternoon off surfing with a friend, but didn’t stay in the water for long. Leaving their friend to surf alone, they soon headed back to the sands to spend some time alone together and share some lingering kisses. Former Lord Of The Rings hobbit Monaghan has been dating Lilly, 27, for nearly two years. The pair kept their relationship a secret for the first year, but made it public after getting engaged. Canadian Lilly, who plays fugitive Kate in Lost, says she fell for the 29-year-old Mancunian because she can’t resist British men. She has said she loves the British for their "self-deprecating humour and sarcasm". The couple are busy filming the third series of the show, about a group of plane crash survivors stranded on a mysterious island.
