NICOLE Richie, facing jail for allegedly driving stoned the wrong way down a highway, has reached out to dad Lionel and asked for help – in the shape of a driver! The concerned crooner has asked his super-skinny 25-year-old adopted daughter how he can help after her run-in with the LAPD earlier this month. We’re told: "After his wild youth Lionel feels he doesn’t have a right to lecture. "He wanted to let Nicole know that if she needed anything like counselling, more rehab, he would be happy to help her. "Nicole confessed that the only thing she could think of that would help her right now was a chauffeur."
Lionel Richie tells Access Hollywood that he takes talk about daughter Nicole’s weight issues personally. Richie, whose new album, "Coming Home" will be released on September 12, 2006, performed in Hollywood Sunday night and told Access, "I’ll be honest with you, it (hearing rumors about Nicole’s weight) hurts me more than it hurts her. I’m more sensitive; I take it more so personal…I must tell you, I’m the basket case."When asked if he gets on Nicole about her weight, Richie added, "Of course, I mean, what are fathers for if you can’t point the finger every once in a while.
