Jason Ritter has gone viral for dancing to the theme for Matlock. Yesterday, when he and his castmates, Kathy Bates, Skye P. Marshall, David Del Rio, and Leah Lewis, were talking about their legal drama for a For Your Consideration event, someone decided to bring out the band!
That band played the show’s opening tune, and Ritter got up and did his thing. Then he got everyone to dance with him, much to the delight of the audience and everyone who sees this video!
If I were CBS, I would record them dancing to the theme song to open every episode, just like they do on Georgie and Maddie’s First Marriage.
The cast of Matlock, Kathy Bates, Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, David Del Rio, and Leah Lewis are on The Jennifer Hudson Show tomorrow, and they share some secrets with the host.
Things like Ritter lost his ring on his wedding day, but he did find it. Lewis auditioned for The Voice when she was 15, but none of the judges turned around.
And then there is Bates. The legendary actress told a story about how somebody convinced her to get an “impossibly big” vibrator with lots of balls that she didn’t know how to use. She put it in her cloth purse and got on an elevator. Then it somehow turned on and made a buzzing sound. So, everyone knew what she had in her purse. And she says it was really embarrassing.
However, she was not too embarrassed to tell the audience, “Listen though. It is very good for your health. Seriously, it is great for your skin.” I can’t argue with her because she is correct! At least, that is what I tell myself when I look in the mirror and see my healthy skin.
Bates also addressed if she is retiring anytime soon. The 76-year-old says she is having too much fun working on Matlock with her castmates to retire. And we are having too much fun watching her.
A few weeks ago, Kathy Bates said she plans on retiring when Matloxk ends. Well, today, she found out she can’t retire until at least the spring of 2026. That is because CBS picked up the legal drama for a second season after just two airings.
“This reconceived MATLOCK was devised by Jennie Snyder Urman with a brilliant surprise plot twist, and we knew we had something very special the moment we saw the first episode brought to life by the incredibly talented Kathy Bates,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The audience reception and critical acclaim for it has been overwhelming. We can’t wait to get started on a second season.”
If you have not watched the show yet, then check it out on Paramount+. There is a reason why everyone is loving this series! Bates is so endearing. Plus, Snyder Urman, who created Jane the Virgin, has struck gold again. She knows how to write telenovelas for us Gringos to enjoy!
Ever since we saw Kathy Bates swing the hammer in Misery, she has had a special place in our hearts.
Therefore, the news I am about to tell you will make you sad. The actress told The New York Times that her upcoming series Matlock will be her last acting project.
“Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it. And it’s exhausting,” the 76-year-old told the interviewer. “This is my last dance.”
So we must watch every episode of the legal procedural, which debuts on September 22nd; this way, she can never retire.
Something she might not have comtemplated had she not worked on an undisclosed movie that soured her to the entertainment industry. Matlock, which was pitched to her a few after that shoot, turned out to be the one project she felt was the perfect way for her to say goodbye to acting.
