Kathy Bates is not retiring anytime soon!
October 22nd, 2024 under Kathy Bates. [ Comments: none ]

A few weeks ago, Kathy Bates said she plans on retiring when Matloxk ends. Well, today, she found out she can’t retire until at least the spring of 2026. That is because CBS picked up the legal drama for a second season after just two airings.

“This reconceived MATLOCK was devised by Jennie Snyder Urman with a brilliant surprise plot twist, and we knew we had something very special the moment we saw the first episode brought to life by the incredibly talented Kathy Bates,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The audience reception and critical acclaim for it has been overwhelming. We can’t wait to get started on a second season.”

If you have not watched the show yet, then check it out on Paramount+. There is a reason why everyone is loving this series! Bates is so endearing. Plus, Snyder Urman, who created Jane the Virgin, has struck gold again. She knows how to write telenovelas for us Gringos to enjoy!

Matlock is Kathy Bates swan song
September 9th, 2024 under Kathy Bates. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since we saw Kathy Bates swing the hammer in Misery, she has had a special place in our hearts.

Therefore, the news I am about to tell you will make you sad. The actress told The New York Times that her upcoming series Matlock will be her last acting project.

“Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it. And it’s exhausting,” the 76-year-old told the interviewer. “This is my last dance.”

So we must watch every episode of the legal procedural, which debuts on September 22nd; this way, she can never retire.

Something she might not have comtemplated had she not worked on an undisclosed movie that soured her to the entertainment industry. Matlock, which was pitched to her a few after that shoot, turned out to be the one project she felt was the perfect way for her to say goodbye to acting.

Imagine Reba McEntire as Molly Brown in Titanic
February 22nd, 2019 under Andy Cohen, Kathy Bates, Reba McEntire. [ Comments: none ]

Before Kathy Bates played Molly Brown in the Oscar-winning movie Titanic, Reba McEntire was cast in the role. Shortly before filming started she had to drop out. She explained to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live why she was forced to jump ship.

Before Reba had her own sitcom, she was on the road all the time. When she accepted the role, she scheduled a definitive 3 months for the movie and then planned to go on tour. Which meant she hired a lot of people and booked a bunch of dates. Therefore, when they told her production had been delayed, she was forced to give up a role that could have changed her life. She had too many people depending on her to do the shows that she could not say no to all of them.

As much as I like Reba, I prefer Bates in the part. Not only does she look like the Unsinkable Molly Brown, but she was also perfect in the film. What do you think?

Hooray, Kathy Bates gets her Hip Hop on!
May 10th, 2018 under Kathy Bates. [ Comments: none ]

We have seen Kathy Bates as just a head on American Horror Story, a pot store owner on Disjointed and now we are seeing her mouth Naught By Nature’s Hip Hop Hooray on Lip Sync Battle on Spike TV. Is there anything the Oscar winner cannot do? I’m waiting. Didn’t think so!

Even tonight at 8p, she totally nails it as Amy Farrah Fowler’s mom on The Big Bang Theory!
