NBC renews Heroes and three other shows |

| They’ve saved the cheerleader, and now "Heroes" will have a little longer to save the world. NBC has given the first-year hit an early pickup for the 2007-08 season, network chief Kevin Reilly told reporters Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour. Three other series — comedies "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" and long-running drama "Law & Order: SVU" — also got the go-ahead for next season. "These four series represent some of the best of what we consider to be the ‘NBC brand’ of quality shows," Reilly says. "It’s a pleasure to give them an early renewal to develop more stories for next year, since we know they will remain both critical and commercial successes for a long time to come." None of the four pickups is much of a surprise. "Heroes," after all, is the top new show of the season in both viewers and the coveted adults 18-49 demographic, drawing better than 15 million viewers per week. "SVU" is NBC’s No. 2 drama at 12.9 million viewers per week, and "Earl" and "The Office" are both drawing solid numbers on Thursdays, particularly among younger viewers. " "Heroes," which returns from hiatus next week, has also added one more episode to its order for this season, bringing the total to 23.

Yay!!! I am so happy Heroes is coming back, I just hope it doesn’t go the same route as Lost. It will be interesting to see now that SVU is officially coming back if Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni will too?

Are you on the list? Find out tonight! |

If “Save the cheerleader, save the world,†was the mantra of the first half of Heroes’ season, the question on all of the Heroes’ minds for the remainder of the season  which kicks off on January 22  will be, “Are you on the list?†The list in question was discovered by Mohinder and is a complete record of all the Heroes around the globe and the powers they possess. But if the list were to fall into the wrong hands, like Sylar’s, anyone with special abilities could end up like the dearly departed Eden. And death will come calling, according to series creator Tim Kring, who says that a major character that was in the opening minutes of the pilot episode will perish. But even in spite of imminent death, the number of Heroes will increase as the season continues. Viewers (and Peter) will meet the newest Hero at the end of the January 22 episode, but no one will see him coming  literally. British actor Christopher Eccleston is joining the cast as Claude, a mysterious stranger who possesses the power of invisibility. And while their first encounter is anything but friendly, Claude ends up becoming a mentor to Peter. Also, fueling the fire of the show’s already twisted family dynamics will be Jessalyn Gilsig, who proves that superpowers are genetic when she is revealed to be Claire’s birth mother and a fire-starter!

Who do you think dies tonight? I am clueless on this one. But you can watch the pilot on NBC’s Heroes’ page and see who was featured in the first few minutes of the show.

| Here’s some Heroes scoop to tide you over until tonight’s hugely anticipated winter premiere: Multiple unnamed sources confirm that Eric Roberts is joining the cast as an associate of H.R.G.’s. He’ll first air in the thick of February sweeps.
Michael Ausiello
Actually he has the look for the cast, so maybe he is not a bad hire!
