You know the expression the third time is a charm? Well for HBO’s Luck it is the opposite. Even though the drama starring Dustin Huffman and Nick Nolte was picked up for a second season, HBO and the producers have opted to cancel the show after a third horse died while filming the show. The network released this statement about ending the show, “It is with heartbreak that executive producers David Milch and Michael Mann together with HBO have decided to cease all future production on the series LUCK. Safety is always of paramount concern. We maintained the highest safety standards throughout production, higher in fact than any protocols existing in horseracing anywhere with many fewer incidents than occur in racing or than befall horses normally in barns at night or pastures. While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future. Accordingly, we have reached this difficult decision. We are immensely proud of this series, the writing, the acting, the filmmaking, the celebration of the culture of horses, and everyone involved in its creation.”
The show’s EP also released a statement about ending the show, “The two of us loved this series, loved the cast, crew and writers. This has been a tremendous collaboration and one that we plan to continue in the future.”
I respect all involved for putting the horses lives ahead of financial gain. It is a shame that they weren’t able to make it work, but they made the righteous decision.
HBO went on a cancelling spree and pulled the plug on Hung, Bored to Death and How to Make It in America according to Variety. Since I am one of the few people who barely watches HBO, the only show on that list (and network) I watched was Hung so I am sad to see it go. Although I can understand their decision because this season they changed up too many things and it didn’t work. Too bad we never to got to see how large his penis was as parting gift.
When it comes to Bored to Death, I am sure Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis are a little relieved they concentrate on their other projects without this one weighing them down.
Now that the red light is off on Hung, I can go back to not watching HBO until Aaron Sorkin’s new show comes on.
Thomas Jane was doing an interview with The LA Times and his answer to a question gave a reveal about his life that I am sure no one saw cumming, I mean coming. The star of Hung who plays a male prostitute with a huge pen!s was asked why the “gay media” has been giving him grief and the interviewer gave him chance to respond to why he thinks that is the case. He explained, “Hey, you grow up as an artist in a big city, as James Dean said, you’re going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don’t accept people’s sexual flavors. You know, when I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless, I didn’t have any money and I was living in my car. I was 18. I wasn’t averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?”
He then went on to talk about his sexuality and the interview concluded with him answering if he thinks homo/heterosexuality is a choice by saying “I don’t know. I think up to a point it’s a choice. But I’ll tell you what — it’s not a choice until you’re open enough to experience both male and female sexuality. Until you’ve tasted the food, you don’t know whether you’ll like it or not, as my mom always said.” I don’t think it has ever been put quite like that and I am not sure it ever will again.

Evan Rachel Wood went to the True Blood premiere yesterday and debuted her very short rocking do. It works from every angle, the front, the sides and even the back!
I freaking love it. I wish my hair could do that because I think that is the perfect short do.
Seriously doesn’t it make her look f*cking amazing?

James Gandolfini and Diane Lane are filming their HBO movie Cinema Verte in NYC and neither actor was recognizable. The Oscar nominee looks like a plain Jane which I am sure was not easy for the makeup department do. While the Emmy winner, I have no idea what he looks like but he looks bigger than ever to me. I think when he done filming this movie, he should seriously consider going on a diet like Jenny Craig.
