Before Debie Allen was teaching teenagers to do the right thing as a dance teacher on Fame, she a teen with a drug problem on Good Times. She looks the same now as she did when she was 25 in that 1976 episode.
Even though it has been over 35 years since Good Times has produced an original episode, it is still as current and fresh now as it was then. In fact, it is airing in syndication on several different networks because it is still just as popular.
Having said all of that, it makes sense that the original cast wants to do a reunion movie and their asking their fans to help make it happen with a Kickstarter campaign.
If you want to see The Evans Family, James (John Amos), JJ (Jimmie Walker), Thelma (Bern Nadette Stanis), Michael (Ralph Carter), their next door neighbor Willona (Ja’net Dubois) and their annoying handy Bookman (Johnny Brown) together again, then you have just a few days left to donate to their campaign. The more you give, the more you get. But we would all get a huge prize in the end and that would be seeing them all together again, reprising their most iconic beloved roles.
No word if they asked Penny to join them. Whether Janet Jackson can do it or not, she should give them the rest of them money to make our and their dream a reality. It is just pennies for Penny, right?
If you want this to happen as much as I do, then donate to their Kickstarter campaign ASAP.
Hollywood just can’t come up with something original anymore because they are going back to the ’70s for their latest movie. According to Deadline Sony Pictures wants to resurrect their sitcom Good Times and make it into a feature film. The studio has hired Phil Johnston, who wrote Wreck-It-Ralph and Cedar Rapids, to write the screenplay. And I want to know what the hell they are thinking because this is not a Dy-no-mite idea. I really hope that J.J. paints the studio the picture where they see how dumb this is.
Please Norman Lear protect your legacy and stop this project before it gets off the ground. You know if you don’t they will wind up casting Will Smith and his whole gang to star as the Evans family. I just shed a tear because I can actually see them doing that, can’t you?
So to get me through this tough news, I am going to watch Good Times on AntennaTV because that is where it is at it’s best…on TV.

Before Philip Michael Thomas was cool on Miami Vice, he was nerdy on Good Times. You can barely recognize the 24 year actor in that 1974 episode.
Before Jay Leno had his own talk show, he was talking to JJ about VD on Good Times. Even with all that hair, a hat and glasses you can totally tell that the 25 year old in that 1976 episode is him! Granted I think the chin gave him away!!!
