Tonight at 9p on CBS, we get to learn more Sass’ (Román Zaragoza) backstory on Ghosts. Mainly, we learn about his relationship with his dad. To make the relationship feel even more special, the producers cast Zaragoza’s real dad Gregory Zaragoza as his TV dad.
I have been a Twitter looky-loo at their father/son relationship, and it is so sweet how much the two of them support each other. So to see them act together made my ice-cold heart melt. It makes their sentimental scenes together even more heartwarming.
So, what is tonight’s episode about? Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) are one step closer to opening their B&B. All they need to do is finish the creative part for their website. Since Sam is the writer in the family, he is leaving that part to her.
She is having writer’s block, so Sass agrees to help her. When he was alive, he was a storyteller. However, like Sam’s mom, his dad didn’t encourage him to become one.
That turns out to be a shame because Sass is really good at it. He comes up with an idea that a tree is the narrator that gives people the backstory of Woodstone Manor. You and I like the idea, but Sam doesn’t. Sass thinks he is right, so he asks fellow Ghosts Trevor (Asher Grodman) to use his special paranormal power to type what he wants on to the website. What could go wrong? Yep, that!
While that is going on, Jay is bonding with Pete (Richie Moriarty) as they watch a basketball game. How does Jay, who can’t see Ghosts, bond with a Ghost? You just have to see how.
However, their friendship is broken up when another living comes between them and squashes it. Or should I say a living squashes, Pete, when he sits on the Scout? Poor Pete. But not that poor because one of the Ghosts who knows about basketball tries to bond with him, and he ignores that fellow Ghost.
All of this leads to an ending that will give you all of the feels. Including humor when we learn something we didn’t know about Trevor. But I have said too much.
I didn’t realize how much I missed this show while it was on hiatus until I watched tonight’s episode. I can’t believe that after tonight, there are only four more new episodes for this season. I need more than that. At least it will be back for a second season.
CBS announced today that they are picking up Ghosts, The Neighborhood, and Bob Hearts Abishola for another season. The three shows will join Young Sheldon and CSI: Vegas on the 2022-2023 schedule.
“We’re thrilled to bring back television’s four most-watched comedies for next season, and I’m proud of the incredible team that maintains CBS’ position as the clear leader in comedy,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, together with a breakout cast and exceptional writers, have done a superb job of adapting GHOSTS for the U.S. and absolutely making it their own. This smart and charming show is delivering new creative highs, not to mention scaring up new audience highs, every week.”
“And on Mondays, the perfect pairing of THE NEIGHBORHOOD and BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA continues to deftly blend belly laughs with relatable and culturally relevant storylines, thanks to these exceptionally talented actors and outstanding creative teams,” Kahl continued.
Ghosts has been the surprise hit of the Fall. Each week the show has been finding more and more viewers, and they are sticking around. That is the power of the heartfelt, funny comedy that makes you fall in love with it at first sight.
Tonight at 9p on Ghosts on CBS, we get to meet a new ghost. Well, new to us, but old one of the Ghosts.
Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) contractor tells them he found a secret door in the mansion, and it has a hidden passageway that leads to a vault. Of course, they want to know what is in it? They are not the only ones, so do the Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), Travis (Asher Grodman), Sass (Román Zaragoza), Thor (Devan Chandler Long), Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), Flower (Sheila Carrasco), and Pete (Richie Moriarty). Therefore the Ghosts follow the livings down to the vault.
Hetty thinks it might have belonged to her robber baron husband, and she is right. As soon as they figure out the combination and open the door, Elias (Matt Walsh) comes out of the vault. Is Hetty happy to see him, nope? Because he is awful. However, people and animals will get happy when he walks through them. That is his secret power.
If that is not enough to deal with, Sam and Jay’s friends are going to get married in their B&B tomorrow. The couple really needs this to happen, or they will lose their house. Nothing can go wrong. Something that was a lot easier before they had a new ghost in the mix. Elias plans on causing as much trouble as possible because once a jerk, always a jerk.
Will the Ghosts be able to put him in his place, or will he put them in their place since it is his place? I cannot tell you that. What I can tell you is the funniest show on television has its funniest moment of the season. I laughed so hard, I had to rewatch it like 20 times, and I plan on watching a 100 more at least. Tell me if you laughed too! I know you will because it is just that hysterical.
The writers of this show keep proving how witty they are. Not only are they hilarious, they know how to write with a lot of heart. That is a rare combo, and I hope the Emmy voters see that because this is the rare comedy these days that is actually a comedy.
If you have never seen this show, then stop ghosting it and check it out. I promise you are going to fall in love with it at first sight. That is why more and more people are falling in love with every week. While other shows bleed viewers, this one is doing the opposite for good reason!
Long live Ghosts. Wait. Well, you know what I mean.
Last week on Ghosts, we met Sam’s dead mother. Tonight at 9p on CBS, we get to meet Jay’s living sister.
Bela (Punam Patel) decides to visit her brother (Utkarsh Ambudkar) because she just went through a bad breakup and wants to escape the memories. Sam (Rose McIver) can’t wait to see her sister-in-law because she is hoping that they can finally bond.
However, as soon as Bela gets there, she says she met a new man online, and he lives near the mansion. So, Bela is happy, and Sam’s plans to cheer her are ruined. Or are they?
Meanwhile, the Ghosts are all upset because one of them has to give up their room so Bela can have it. Pete (Richie Moriarty) being the good guy that he is, offers to give up his room. However, Pete’s new girlfriend, Nancy (Betsy Sodaro) from the basement, doesn’t want to give up her new comfortable bed. Therefore, she teaches Pete to stand up for himself. How will Thor (Devan Chandler Long), Sass (Román Zaragoza), Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), Flower (Sheila Carrasco. Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) and Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) feel about the new Pete.
And then there is pantless Trevor (Asher Grodman). He got his hands on Jay’s iPad and did something he shouldn’t have. Now, he is in trouble. But not before we get to see that he really isn’t a bad guy. He actually has a good heart. And Jay needs a new password.
All in all, it is another lovable episode of Ghosts. And that is why it is this season’s #1 new show. Find out why everyone who watches it is falling in love with it. Each week, they are finding new viewers, will you be one of them this week?
Ghosts is back for the second part of its first season tonight at 9p on CBS, and this season’s favorite new show has a lot of fun things in the mansion for us in the next few months.
For example, you know how we have been wondering which of the Ghosts would be missing from each episode? Well, that is over with since the show got picked up for more episodes. From now on
Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac), Richie Moriarty (Pete), Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Asher Grodman (Trevor), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty), and Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn) will be in every episode.
They will be joined by several guest stars, including Betsy Sodaro, who starts it off tonight, Matt Walsh, Punam Patel, Rob Huebel, and the return of next-door neighbor Mark Linn-Baker.
Besides guest stars, we will be getting more backstories from the Ghosts. That means, according to Executive Producer Joe Port, we are going to have one of the biggest mysteries of the show solved. That mystery is why did Trevor die without any pants on. Inquiring minds want to know, and we don’t need the National Enquirer to tell us why. Or do we?
While Trevor is on his own, we are going to meet family members in the upcoming episodes. Rose McIver let it slip; we are going to meet someone from Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) family next week. She said at the CBS Winter TCA Press Day, “It’s really awesome when we get to see more of where he’s from, and Sam gets to be the outsider a little, in some ways.”
The most awesome casting surprise comes during Sassapiss’ episode. That’s because Zaragoza revealed, “We got to shoot a really exciting episode that’s going to be coming soon about a little bit about my backstory. I can tease a little bit about how my real father [Gregory Zaragoza], who is an actor and the reason I got into acting, gets to play my father. So, it was such an exciting experience.”
And then there is tonight’s episode where we get to meet Sam’s (McIver) mom, who is played by Rachel Harris. Sam hasn’t seen her mom in six years because their last conversation ended in a fight, so she decides that now is the perfect time to visit her. She hopes that maybe they can reconcile things and that her mom will finally be proud of the life she made with her husband, Jay.
Sam and Jay left the Ghosts alone in the mansion with the TV on. But after the television ghosts the Ghosts, Sassapiss reveals that Pete has a crush on one of the ladies. How will she react to this news?
And there is one more piece of news I can share with you. Jay and Sam are going to open their Bed and Breakfast by the end of the season.
With all of that coming up, I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. Just when I think I can’t love Ghosts anymore, they pull a really sweet moment like they do at the end of tonight’s episode. It was so endearing that I needed to hug someone, so I squeezed my cat. She is not a fan of the program, but you will be. So watch it on CBS tonight and on Paramount+ anytime.
