Last month, FX announced that American Crime Story: Katrina was being postponed for Versace and yesterday director Anthony Hemingway told The Hollywood Reporter “That just kind of got stalled,” like Katrina did in New Orleans.
In fact, he went on to say that as of now he does not even know if it is happening. Which is not a bad thing because it never made sense. The OJ Simpson Trial and the search Versace’s killer do, but Katrina does not. It just does not have the anthology feel like the other 2. Although Versace could probably stand to be just 4 episodes because it is pretty much he shot the designer, eluded police for a few days and then killed himself. But that is me!

Tonight at 10p is not only the season finale for Tyrant, it is also the series finale. FX announced today that the show was not picked up for a fourth season.
The show’s star Jennifer Finnigan told the fans, “Sad but true, folks. More than anything, I just want to thank our AMAZING fans. Your support and excitement for the show truly MADE my experience. Thank you for all your amazing comments and love. Bye for now, #Tyrants…”
I know a lot people liked this drama set in the Middle East, but I never got passed the pilot.

Tonight at 8p on ABC, it is time for the one hour season finale of The Muppets. Miss Piggy breaks her leg singing Single Ladies, and needs to surgery immediately to correct the problem. When the network brass say that they will do the show without her, Kermit convinces them to do it from the hospital. When the show is over and as she’s being rolled into the operating room, Kermit realizes his true feelings for Miss Piggy and declares that he loves her. And that is where the first episode ends.
Is this declaration too little, too late? We will find out on May, but as of now I say yes. Although, tonight’s first episode was one of the better ones during the show’s first season.

Then at 10p over on FX, it is time for the lawyers to debate about Mark Furhman (Steven Pasquale) taking the stand on American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson.
Chris Darden (Sterling K. Brown) and Johnnie Cochran (Courtney B. Vance) battle it out over the N-word inside and outside of the courtroom. Their interactions are so intense, powerful and emotional, I would be surprised if Brown and Vance are not nominated for an Emmy for their performances on tonight’s episode alone. There is one line that is perfection tonight, and you will know what it is when it is said. You will press pause and then rewind to be like oh hell no!
American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson has been excellent so far and tonight’s episode is by far the best!

Back in 1994, the world was captivated with the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. The main suspect was OJ Simpson and immediately we were all glued to our televisions from the time he was named, to his infamous attempt to elude police in that white Bronco and ultimately his trial. Everyday people would tune into the trial, but what was happening behind the scenes? That is what American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson is going to show us every Tuesday at 10p on FX.
When I heard they were doing this, I didn’t want to relive that trial again. Especially with the cast that was attached to it. Then, I watched the first episode, I was blown away by how interesting it was and what a good job they were all doing retelling a story we all know. With each episode it gets better and delves more into the case. It shows a different side of what we know and it almost makes you want to watch the trial again. OK, maybe not that far, but you will get to see how ruthless the defense was and how the People screwed up over and over again.
Tonight’s episode starts off with Brown and Goldman’s bodies being discovered and cops investigating the scene. When they find out she was married to OJ Simpson (Cuba Gooding Jr) they decided to break the news to him directly. Only thing, he isn’t home, but it appears that drops of his blood are all over the area. Now he is their number one suspect and they ask Marcia Clark (Sarah Paulson) how to handle it.
As she looks into his history, she thinks it is open and shut case. Meanwhile, OJ Simpson’s friend Rob Kardashian (David Schwimmer) convinces him to start building up his legal team and the first person they add is Robert Shapiro (John Travolta). When Clark decides they have enough to arrest him, they work out a deal for OJ to turn himself in. When the time comes, OJ flees with Al Cowlings (Malcolm-Jamal Warner). Next week’s episode is all about that infamous car chase that had the whole nation tuning in.
As we know, OJ is eventually arrested and now it is time for both sides to build their cases and their legal teams. The defense adds Johnny Cochran (Courtney B. Vance) and the People add Chris Darden (Sterling K. Brown). Over the next few weeks, you will see both sides have internal and external problems with the case. Some we knew about, some we didn’t. It is because of those we didn’ts that this miniseries will keep us glued to our television set just like we were over 20 years ago.
There is so much that American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson gets right, there’s the pacing, the story, the emotions, the acting and the wanting to know what happens next even though we know. It is just a different take of something we already know and making the unknown elements really interesting and intriguing.
The true stars of the series are Travolta, Vance and Brown who steal every scene they are in. If you are expecting another one of Ryan Murphy productions, you will be disappointed. This is television at its best and not his normal best. Somehow Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski found a way to rein him in and give us a 10 episode event that truly is an event.

Many of us lived through the OJ trial when it happened, and thought we would never have to live through it again. That was until FX announced that teamed up with Ryan Murphy to do a star studded TV mini-series about the trial of the 20th Century.
As much as I say I won’t watch American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson starting on February 2nd, I will be watching. I know you will be suffering with me. Even though that trailer makes it look so bad.
