Be the ball and own the 30th Anniversary Edition of Caddyshack!
June 9th, 2010 under DVD. [ Comments: none ]

One of the greatest movies of all time is turning 30 and what better way to celebrate Caddyshack’s milestone than by owning it on Blu-ray, The 30th Anniversary special edition DVD, OnDemand (Amazon) or for Download (iTunes)?
In 1980 Chevy Chase, Bill Murray Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight and a gopher made golf cool and 30 years later it is just as cool as it was then if not more so thanks to the Harold Ramis film. I re-watched the movie and you know what it is still the hole in one it was as the first time I saw it. I can still remember being a kid and rewatching that opening gopher scene over and over and twisting my body just like he did to Kenny Loggins. Once I got past that scene there was so much to enjoy like the above doody scene that instantly became a classic. Who hasn’t thought about throwing a Baby Ruth in a pool after seeing the movie? We enjoyed the movie one way as a kid and enjoyed it all over again as adult, so why not continue to enjoy it by owning the 30th Anniversary Edition of the classic film? It never gets old and it makes you feel young again!
Besides owning the movie that you can watch over and over again you get two documentaries about the film, Bio Caddyshack: The Inside Story–comprehensive feature-length 30th-anniversary documentary with the movie’s cast and creators and Caddyshack: The 19th Hole retrospective featurette. During these special features, you learn things like who still can’t eat a chocolate bar after the movie, which two actors didn’t get along, which actor brought everyone out just to watch him work and what they did for fun when the cameras stopped rolling. Besides all of that you get to see the original theatrical trailer and it is no wonder why people flocked to see Caddyshack then as you should now!

Sing a long with Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel at home!
March 31st, 2010 under DVD, Zachary Levi. [ Comments: 1 ]

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is out on 2-Disc DVD and Blu-Ray now and it a must have! When I heard about the first movie, I thought OMG this is going to be stupid. Then one day I decided to watch it and I was shocked by how good it was. So when I heard they were doing a Squeakquel I couldn’t wait to see it and I actually liked it more than the first one.
In Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel the Chipmunks go to school and get some competition with all-girl singing group of Chipmunks called the Chipettes. When Dave is injured because of Alvin and confined to a hospital bed, the boys need be taken care of by the irresponsible but awwwdorable Zachary Levi. Toby (Zachary) takes the boys to their first day of school and things are not going too smoothly for them at first. While the boys are at school, the Chipettes meet the Chipmunks evil ex-agent Ian who uses them to get back into the business. The principal asks the boys to sing in a competition to save the school’s music program, and they agree to do it. When Ian reads about this he enrolls the Chipettes in the school and gets them to compete against the Chipmunks. Who will win the competition? Will the Chipettes realize that Ian is bad? How many times will Dave scream Allllllllvvvvvviin? Will Toby be handle the boys? Will the Chipmunks and the Chipettes hook up? All of this will be answered, plus there are a lot of great song numbers that will have you singing along in this enjoyable movie! Even my cat couldn’t stop watching this movie!!!

I had as much fun watching the special features as much as the movie itself. In the Music Mania Featurette you get to see how they put the final part of the movie together. In Munking History you get to know the 50 year history of the Chimunks like how they came about and how they have changed throughout the years. In Meet the Chipettes we learn their history and how the Chipmmunks were originally dressed in drag until the girls finally became their own characters. I never knew that factoid before that special feature. In Chipmunks:Behind the Squeaking the actors talks about their experience working with the Chipmunks and which actor never got to meet them and which one dated Alvin? You also get to see how the voice actors create the voices for their characters, you will be as shocked as they were how that happens. Disney’s newest classic The Princess and the Frog is available today as a Three Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo with Digital Copy and it is a must have for anyone who has a child or is a big child. The movie is set in 1920’s New Orleans and that means there is some Voodoo involved! All Tiana wants to do is to open the restaurant that her father and her dreamed of, but money is stopping her from making that happen. Prince Naveen has come to New Orleans to find a bride, but instead meets Doctor Facilier a voodoo doctor who turns him to frog. The only way for him to become human again is to kiss a princess. While at a her best friend’s masquerade, Tiana makes a wish on a star and Prince Naveen appears. Looking like a Princess, he asks Tiana to kiss him but instead of turning him human, he turns her into a frog. Being frogs they get chased out of the party and the two begin a journey to become human again and along the way they befriend a jazz playing alligator and love smittened firefly. On the path to becoming human again they find so much more and we get several songs that will have us singing and dancing along with them for years to come!

Special features included in the Three Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo with Digital Copy are:

* A Return to the Animated Musical
* Art Galleries
* Disney Family Play
* “What Do You See?” Princess Portrait Game
* Music & More
* “Never Knew I Needed” Music Video by Ne-Yo
* Easter Egg: Drawing the Frog”

Since I am old school, I only saw the DVD features and I felt like a big kid watching them and the movie. The deleted scenes are so cool because the writers introduce the pre-animated deleted scenes. It was so interesting to watch the storyboards telling the scenes and you get to see part of the animation process that is rarely seen. There is also a game where you have to guess which Disney Princess the fireflies are mapping out, and I found myself addicted to it. Also included is Ne-Yo’s music video that was filmed in modern day New Orleans and the city is as beautiful now as it was when The Princess and the Frog was set.
I am not the only one who thinks The Princess and the Frog is a must have, Tina Fey, Melissa Joan Hart, Audra McDonald and Nigel Barker all attended an event celebrating Princess Tiana officially being named the ninth member (the first African-American) of the Disney Princess Royal Court and the DVD release party in NYC over the weekend.

Take home Everybody’s Fine today!
February 23rd, 2010 under DVD. [ Comments: none ]

Everybody’s Fine is out on DVD today and even though Robert De Niro’s family didn’t want to come home to see him, you will want to see him in your home in this movie. Everybody’s Fine stars Robert De Niro as recently widowed and retired father of four, who is planning for all of his kids to come home to see him for the first time since his wife died, but when they all cancel on him he decides to surprise them by visiting them. Because of health issues, he decides to take trains and buses to see his four kids who live in four different cities throughout the country. De Niro was not that close to his kids played by Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell when they were growing up and as he visits them he learns things about them he never knew and why they cancelled on him. Seeing a man realize it is never too late to get to know your family and have them be a big part of your life will really inspire you to call at least one family member you haven’t spoken to in while and get to know them all over again! How many movies can say that. So why not own this movie so your family will get larger each time you watch it.
The DVD includes Paul McCartney’s Golden Globe nominated song (I Want To) Come Home as well as a behind the scenes featurette and deleted and extended scenes that were not included in the theatrical release. When it comes to the extended scenes there is one scene in the movie where DeNiro is talking to a 94 year old man and it was one of the most thought provking scenes in the movie and the extended scene will bring a smile to your face and it makes sense why the full scene couldn’t be in theatrical release. There is also an extended scene that will bring tears to your eyes more than what was seen in theaters and I already that scene was gut wrenching enough in the original release. Also the featurette for Paul McCartney’s (I Want To) Come Home is something fun and it was neat to see his process behind it!
So add Everybody’s Fine to your DVD collection today because it is a movie you will want to watch whenever you want your family back in your life!
