|  (Photo by: Mark Seliger/NBC) Chicago Med is going into its seventh season, and that means the contracts are up for the medical drama’s original cast members. As of today, we know that two of the actors have decided to leave the show. They are Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto.
DeCosta plays nurse April Sexton, and it looks like her character will leave the ED to go to med school. At the same time, DeVitto’s character Dr. Natalie Manning has been stealing experimental medicine to give to her mom.
Both actresses already have their next jobs lined up. DeCosta is joining Fox’s Our Kind of People, and DeVitto will star in the Independent film Skelly, according to Deadline.
S. Epatha Merkerson is said to have signed her contract, while Oliver Platt, Nick Gehlfuss, Brian Tee, and Marlyne Barrett are still working on their deals.
Back to the actresses, are you upset that they are leaving? I feel like the writers have done as much as they can with their characters, and there is nowhere else they can take them. I think the other roles still have some room for the producers to create some interesting storylines. Although, I feel like Gehlfuss’ character could be getting close to them running out of ideas for Dr. Will Halstead.
