Gas Station TV is looking for their next host!
May 27th, 2008 under Cool Technology. [ Comments: none ]

Gas prices might be painful when you are filling up, but something that eases the pain is Gas Station TV and they are looking for a new host! They have picked the top 10 submissions out of the over 300 applications and now they are asking us to pick the person who will make filling up more enjoyable!

America’s chance to vote online began May 12 and will continue through June 30 at the BroadcaSTAR homepage, www.beabroadcaSTAR.com.   Fans may view the finalist videos and cast their vote once per day for the most talented individual competing in the BroadcaSTAR contest. Every initial and repeat login to the BroadcaSTAR Web site by voters and contestants is automatically entered for the chance to win a $10,000 sweepstakes prize drawing.

The winning BroadcaSTAR will receive a recurring national broadcast lifestyle segment hosting position on the GSTV network, a $2,500 cash prize, and will have all expenses paid associated with travel for the segment tapings.

Over the course of the “American Idol-like” contest video upload period, nearly 300 videos were submitted and the contest home page received more than 70,000 page views. In addition, almost 8,000 sweepstakes entries have been received and nearly half of all registrants opted-in to future communication from GSTV and its partners.

So head over to Gas TV and vote for your favorite! At least this is our way to stick it to the pump man and tell it who we want on our Gas TV!!!

Find Waldo on Google Earth!
April 14th, 2008 under Cool Technology. [ Comments: 7 ]

Melanie Coles has painted a 55' Waldo on a rooftop in Canada somewhere for people to find on Google Earth according to Daily Mail.

But competition is likely to be tough. Not only will Wally hunters have to locate his rooftop perch, but they will also have to wait for Google's imaging equipment to pick it up.

Although Google Earth pictures can be up to three years old, the company does not reveal when it plans to update its images.

But, as Miss Coles, 22, insists that's all part of the fun.

She said: 'The goal of the game is to get excited. It's like this huge shift. Radio is going to the Web. Television is going to the Web. And now Waldo is going to the Web, which is pretty fitting right now.

This is what I'm surrendering to the Google god.'

Miss Coles, an art student who has publicised her project on the blog whereonearthiswaldo.com, is now encouraging others to follow her lead and create a series of Google Wallys across the world.

'I think that it's within the spirit of the state of the Web now. Everything is a free-for-all, and I think the more Waldos, the better,' she said.

How brilliant of idea is that? I am surprised someone did not think of it earlier! OK, I am off to find Waldo on Google Earth!

Hasbro wants to kill Facebook’s Scrabulous
January 15th, 2008 under Cool Technology. [ Comments: 1 ]

Nooooo! Nooooo! Noooooo! Noooooo!
Hasbro sent Facebook a cease and desist letter saying that Scrabulous is a breach of copyright and that Facebook could face legal action over my favorite game according to AAP.

The Scrabulous game, which was developed by Indian brothers Rajat Agarwalla and Jayant Agarwalla, has become a big money earner for the pair.

It has been claimed that the brothers are receiving $US25,000 ($A27,853) per month in advertising revenue from Facebook.

According to Fortune magazine, Hasbro sent a cease-and-desist notice to Facebook asking them to remove the application.

Please Hasbro don't kill my guilty pleasure and the addiction of at least 500,000 people a day. I love when you put a bunch of letters together and they create a 40 point word and you are like that is a word! And with my spelling, I am happy anything is a word! Plus I have made friends all over the world playing this game. On that not time to start a new game with one of them.
Save Scrabulous!!!

Things I want for Christmas…
December 27th, 2007 under Cool Technology. [ Comments: none ]

Yeah, it is two days after Christmas, but like Erin Murphy I am in LA and it doesn’t snow here. I so miss snow and that instant snow is way too cool not to have. Whether you live in LA or Toronto, it is dog pee-free snow and not cold enough to melt…but sadly not hard enough to throw an ice ball at someone or sleigh down a hill with. But either way it is still freaking cool!!!

Don’t over call Sprint customer service or they will drop you
July 10th, 2007 under Cool Technology. [ Comments: none ]

Sprint PCS dropped over 1,200 customers for over calling their customer service department according to News4Jax. Sprint is not cutting off the people that call 1 or 2 times a month, but the 1,200 people who called over 40 – 50 times a month. Sprint feels these people are not happy, so why not just get rid of them. They said, "Rather than continue to operate in a situation that was unsatisfactory for Sprint and our subscribers, we chose to terminate our relationship with those customers to allow them to pursue other options." Those people that were dropped were sent a letter last month letting them know. My question is, if you drop people like that aren't they going to call and complain even more that they were dropped?

And BTW good for Sprint for doing that! Those people need to get lives and stop their complaining so much. Now I have to go call my cable company for the 50th time to find out when they are going to fix my cable.
