Barack Obama orders Stephen Colbert’s head shaved
June 8th, 2009 under Barack Obama, Comedy Central. [ Comments: none ]

Stephen Colbert traveled to Baghdad to entertain the troops, but it was a videotape message from Barack Obama that had everyone laughing except Colbert. According to AP The President ordered Gen. Ray Odierno, via a videotaped message to shave Colbert’s head and the General followed his orders and made the first slice. After that a stylist finished off the military cut. As of now this is the only picture we have the new do, and I can’t wait to see how he looks with his new cut. But I have to admit I really liked his old one, so I hope he lets it grow back!

UPDATE
: Here is the video of Stephen Colbert getting his military cut on The Colbert Report and he looks awesome with his new look!!!

Sarah Silverman needs to get over herself
March 2nd, 2009 under Comedy Central. [ Comments: 1 ]

Sarah Silverman's show The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central has not been picked up for a third season yet. When Comedy Central offered the show a renewal but with a 20% cut per episode, the show's producers and Sarah said no thanks according to The Hollywood Reporter.

At the center of the holdup is the proposed budget for Season 3. Citing cuts imposed on the network by parent company MTV Networks, Comedy Central had proposed that the trio bring back the WGA Award-nominated show at about $850,000 an episode, sources said, down from the $1.1 million an episode for the show's second season.
In broadcast, single-camera comedies are produced for about $1.5 million-$2 million an episode, and the budget for any series normally climbs from year to year.
Amid the economic woes, ABC Studios and 20th TV asked all of their showrunners to cut 2% of their series budgets. The proposed budget cut on "Sarah Silverman" is more than 10 times that.
Concerned they won't be able to maintain the integrity of the show at the discounted price, Silverman on behalf of the three executive producers, informed the network late last week that they can't proceed with a third season.

If I were Comedy Central I would tell the producers and Sarah Silverman that in times likes these  a 20% cut is better than a 100% cut. They should be grateful for the work, not threatening to quit.
I don't know about you guys, but I have I tried to watch TSSP and I am shocked there is that much money put in to each episode because it looks and feels so cheap. And personally I don't think it is funny, but hey that is me.
Hey Comedy Central tell the show take it or leave because there were a bunch of people at yesterday's Roast that are funnier and more deserving of a show.

UPDATE: Sadly Sarah Silverman and her producers got their way and even more money per episode according to The Hollywood Reporter. Logo will co-finance the show, hopefully they will get their money’s worth.

Steve Martin feels the rath of Stephen Colbert!
February 5th, 2009 under Comedy Central, Steve Martin. [ Comments: 2 ]

Last night Steve Martin was on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report and when he accidentally walked in front of of Stephen’s eye line and all heck broke loose kind of like what happened on the Terminator: Salvation set. That was the best parody yet!
Poor Steve Martin…that is the funniest thing he has done in a long time.

Comedy Central to Roast Larry the Cable Guy
January 7th, 2009 under Comedy Central. [ Comments: none ]

Comedy Central has roasted Pamela Anderson, William Shatner, Flavor Flav, Bob Saget and now on March 15th they are going to put Larry the Cable Guy on the BBQ and Roast him!!!

“It is an honor that COMEDY CENTRAL has chosen me to be roasted. Only a handful of folks have been dumb enough to accept. And believe me, I’m pretty dumb! I’m looking forward to this about as much as I am to a prostate check with a doctor with a hook arm,” said Larry the Cable Guy.

I have to admit it should be an interesting roast. I want to see how Jeffrey Ross and Greg Giraldo handle it and which legendary actress we will all find out can tell a dirty joke better than any of us. I so hope that Comedy Central adds a counter for each time some was say Red Neck during the show!

Retro: The Van Heffer pilot
December 12th, 2008 under Comedy Central. [ Comments: none ]

Van Heffer is the mockumentary about an Elvis impersonator who sings Ozzy Osbourne’s songs bluegrass style.
The pilot was shot for Comedy Central, but for some reason it didn’t get picked up. I wonder why?
BTW today is dreadful, so I figured this was a good waste of a post!
xoxo Jerry
