Britney Spears collapsed at Pure Nightclub early today, cutting short her New Year’s Eve appearance at the Caesars Palace megaclub. Bodyguards whisked her away from Pure’s VIP section to her suite about 1 a.m. and she did not return. "She’s fine," said Larry Rudolph, Spears’ manager. "She had been traveling all day. She got real tired. It was a late night for her." It was the second time in two weeks that the hard-partying Spears was carried out of a nightclub. She was helped out of Hollywood’s Les Deux about 2 a.m. on Dec. 22. Spears had just completed a second New Year’s Eve countdown on the terrace of Pure and had returned to her group on the VIP stage. "She had a little too much to drink," said a Pure source. "She was assisted out, but she was not carried." Spears was seen mixing a rum and pineapple drink with champagne shortly before her stumbling departure. Rudolph said Spears "wasn’t drinking that much."

Less than one hour into the New Year, pop-princess Britney Spears collapsed at the PURE nightclub inside Caesars Palace. Just 50 minutes earlier, she had hosted two countdowns to usher in the New Year – one inside the VIP section at the hip hot nightspot and a 2nd up on the club’s upper outdoor terrace overlooking the famed Vegas Strip where fireworks were shot off from seven casino-hotel rooftops. Mystery now surrounds Britney’s collapse early this morning. She had been seated on a VIP tented-cabana bed overlooking the dance floor at 12:50AM talking with one of her male dancers. She intimated she wanted to leave and as she stood up, "she went into a dead faint and just fell right to the floor." Her group pulled her up and lay her on the bed at the same time as her personal security asked for the club to provide at least 10 other security managers to "get her out as quickly as possible." They surrounded the stricken pop star in an attempt to screen her from all observers and the new years revelers on the crowded dance floor. One woman in the Spears’ entourage yelled, "Make sure nobody gets any photos. No photos anywhere." When the 12-strong security phalanx was in place, two of her dancers wrapped Britney in what appeared to be a blanket-hooded poncho. Literally carrying her in both arms, they managed to propell her through the crowds and out of the club. It appeared as if "she was being dragged as she wasn’t walking under her own speed" said one eyewitness. "It looked as if they wanted to get her up to her hotel room as soon as possible." At 2AM this morning, an ambulance was summoned to the hotel but it was totally unclear if it was brought to Caesars for Britney.

Gee I wonder what made her collapse? Hmmm? I hope K-Fed is taking notes for his custody battle because he has a good chance of getting his kids now?

The relationship between Britney Spears and music producer JR Rotem, 31, is heating up. Friends say the pair talk on the phone every day and have been regularly enjoying romantic, candlelit take-out dinners at JR’s Beverly Hills home. They talk all night and she often stays over. "I really care about her," JR tells In Touch. "She is unique and has a great personality." Friends say that JR will be a good influence on Britney. "I am clean and sober," he tells In Touch. "I don’t even drink coffee." JR wants the same for Britney. "He told her he doesn’t like her partying," says the insider. "He wants her to take herself more seriously."

He is so delusional if he thinks anyone could be a good influence on her. I mean why she is staying at his place if she has two babis at home? She is still drinking? And I think part of the only reason she is wearing underwear is because it has been really cold here. But you never know maybe he really is a good influence her?

Though the pair were once practically joined at the hip (they previously had a sleepover in Las Vegas and were spied dancing on banquettes at West Hollywood’s Hyde), things went sour after Spears took heat in the media for partying while leaving her two kids, Sean, 15 months, and Jayden, 3 months, at home. “Britney told Paris that it’s not personal,” says an insider. But beware a Hilton scorned. According to another source, the heiress, 25, didn’t invite Spears to her December 18 Christmas party and now refers to her ex-pal as “Animal.” Why? “Britney doesn’t think about things before she does them. She just acts out,” says the source. (Spears’ rep couldn’t be reached for comment. Says Hilton’s camp: “Her friendships are her own business.”)

Britney messed with the wrong person when she messed with Paris. But then again Britney is capable of making a big mess of her life all by herself.

BRITNEY SPEARS is plotting to tell all about her disastrous marriage in an explosive interview with Vanity Fair mag. She will do a JENNIFER ANISTON-style post-divorce expose on life with KEVIN SPENDERLINE ahead of a big comeback. A source close to Brit said: “Britney has agreed to make Vanity Fair her first big statement about her new life. The interview will be very frank. She liked how they handled Jennifer’s first interview after her divorce from BRAD PITT.” Brit’s new album is due next summer.
