The Thriller is gone…:(
November 15th, 2006 under Arrested, The Jacksons. [ Comments: none ]

Reclusive pop superstar Michael Jackson made a musical comeback of sorts on Wednesday, singing the chorus line of his charity single "We Are The World" before the sound cut out as he struggled for the high notes. The 48-year-old, performing live for the first time since he was acquitted of child molestation charges in June, 2005, had been expected to sing his seminal hit "Thriller". But to the huge disappointment of screaming fans, that was performed instead by young U.S. star Chris Brown. Jackson looked uncomfortable at times as he was surrounded by excited young members of a gospel chorus on stage with him. That did not stop supporters desperate to see their idol cheer his every move, especially when threw his black sequin jacket into the crowd. The failure by the deposed King of Pop to demonstrate his voice and confidence were back to anywhere near their best was likely to raise further doubts about his ability to resurrect a career that has been on hold for years. "I love you!" he shouted, before the World Music Awards 2006 ceremony he headlined wound up. Earlier in the evening, Jackson was given the Diamond Award honouring artists who sell more than 100 million records. Introducing Jackson, U.S. singer Beyonce said: "Tonight we are celebrating 25 years of ‘Thriller’," referring to his seminal album. "If it wasn’t for Michael Jackson I would never have ever performed. I love you, we all love you." Jackson, who has been a virtual recluse for the last 17 months, thanked fans and his family, singling out his three children who have been with him during his stopover in London. "I am greatly humbled by this award," said Jackson, who wore his jet black hair long and straight. "It was my dream that ‘Thriller’ would be the biggest-selling album ever … and God has answered my prayers," he added. Jackson’s lifetime record sales tally is believed to be around 750 million, making him the most successful entertainer of all time. Whether Wednesday’s performance helps him on the road to professional recovery remains to be seen. "I would say there’s very little chance of him coming back from where he is," said Gareth Grundy, deputy editor of the Q music magazine, speaking before the show. "I think people will always be fascinated by the freak show, and that’s what’s going on," he said. "I would categorise him as a celebrity as opposed to an artist."

So sad, I was really hoping he would be back. The Michael Jackson we knew and loved is gone forever…:(
Just out of curiousity was it really a good idea to have Michael Jackson surrounded by so many teenagers?
BTW here is a picture of Chris Brown (not born when Thriller came out) singing the song.

Adrienne Shelly was murdered and did not committ suicide
November 6th, 2006 under Arrested. [ Comments: none ]

Prosecutors have charged a man with murdering actress Adrienne Shelly, who was found hanging from a shower rod in her West Village office last Wednesday, CBS 2 News has learned. Sources tell CBS 2’s Ti-Hua Chang a construction worker has allegedly confessed to the crime. Police have charged 19-year-old Diego Pillco, of the 300-block of Prospect Avenue in Brooklyn, with second degree murder. Sources tell CBS 2’s Ti-Hua Chang that Pillco, a construction worker, apparently confessed to the crime. Pillco allegedly punched the 5-foot-2 actress after she complained about the noise he was making in the West Village apartment building where her office is located, killing her. He then allegedly admitted to dragging the body up to her office, and positioning her in the shower to make her death look like a suicide. The medical examiner’s office had not yet ruled whether the death of the petite actress best known for her roles in the Hal Hartley films "Trust" and "The Unbelievable Truth" was a homicide or a suicide. Police had been hesitant to label the case a suicide after no suicide note was found and sneaker prints that didn’t match Shelly’s shoes were found in the bathtub. Shelly, whose birth name was Adrienne Levine, was found by her husband, Andy Ostroy, Wednesday evening hanging from a shower rod in the bathtub of a Greenwich Village apartment which she uses as her office. Ostroy released a statement to the media on Monday night: "My wife’s senseless death is devastating to me, our families and friends. We are incredibly grateful to the New York City Police Department for their dedication, professionalism and tenacity in following up on every lead in this case. "We appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve received. Her fans and the film community knew Adrienne as an award-winning actor, screenwriter and director, but her most enduring legacy is our wonderful daughter. To those closest to her, she was the best mother and step-mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend anyone could ask for. "My comfort is now our young daughter and my other children who have been incredibly supportive. We hope everyone will respect that this is a difficult and private time for our family." Shelly, who was born in Queens and grew up on Long Island, also had a 3-year-old daughter Sophie.

Busta Rhymes busted again
November 3rd, 2006 under Arrested, Busta Rhymes. [ Comments: none ]

Busta Rhymes rapped his way into a ticket last night when cops caught him yakking on his cellphone while driving, police said. The superstar recording artist was spotted on the phone as he cruised past the Midtown North police station on W. 54th St. about 7p.m., cops said. The 34-year-old rapper, whose real name is Trevor Smith, has had other brushes with the law. He was notoriously uncooperative with investigators after his bodyguard, Israel Ramirez, 29, was gunned down in Brooklyn during the video shoot for Rhymes’ "Touch It (Remix)" last February. Then, in August, Rhymes was charged with assault for allegedly pummeling a Bronx man who spat on the rapper’s auto in Chelsea.

Another airport, another Snoop Dog incident
October 27th, 2006 under Arrested, Snoop Dogg. [ Comments: none ]

Snoop Dogg was arrested on suspicion of illegal drug and gun possession, police said. The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Bob Hope Airport, police said. Snoop Dogg posted $35,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court Dec. 12. Airport police officers stopped Snoop Dogg at a loading zone for a vehicle code violation. When officers searched the vehicle they found a gun and marijuana, police said. "There was no basis for this arrest," the rapper’s attorney, Donald Etra, said in a statement. "We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed." The Orange County district attorney’s office has been considering charges against Snoop Dogg after authorities last month discovered a 21-inch collapsible baton in his bags as he boarded a New York-bound flight from John Wayne International Airport.

Seriously this his third incident this year at an airport, I think he should take a break from flying for a while…don’t you?
