Taylor Swift is striking out in baseball this season because some of the teams think she is cursed if she takes her tour their stadium.
The singer has been playing some baseball stadiums this summer with her 1989 tour and of the ones that she played, the teams have all suffered more losses than wins since her concerts.
Back in late July, the Houston Astros forced her to reschedule her October date to September just in case they made it to the postseason. At the time, it looked like they were going to go, but then… They lost 7 of 8 games, and now they stand at 8-11 since they forced her to postpone her show. According to ESPN the last time they went from being above .500 to below it was…1989.
They weren’t the only team to deal with the ramifications of having her at their home base, the Washington Nationals also suffered the same fate. Days after she played their stadium, the lights went out and the game was suspended. The team was expected to go to playoffs, but suffered several losses since then and their season is over.
Finally, there’s the San Diego Padres who have gone 11-18 since she played their house on August 29th.
They say bad things come in three and the Toronto Blue Jays are hoping that’s the case. Why? She is due to play there this weekend and they are hoping it doesn’t ruin their postseason chances.
Luckily for her, Toronto is a nice town. If she were playing NYC this weekend, I am sure a few Mets fan would take out her bus or kidnap her cats. Nothing comes between the Mets and their postseason odds.
