Just weeks after Fox News paid off several women, who were allegedly sexual harassed by Bill O’Reilly, the news network fired their most famous anchor. Just hours after another woman came forward. Another factor in his dismissal is almost all of the program’s advertisers pulled out from the show. You can’t make money without advertisements. Between his salary and the $13 million settlement, they need all the money they can get if they wanted to keep him on the air.
20th Century Fox released this statement about cutting ties with the man who has been there since their beginning, “After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel.”
The news anchor was a week long vacation, but now it is permanent. Good riddance.
When it comes to his replacement, starting on Monday Tucker Carlson will move to 8p and The Five will move to 9p. Personally, I think they should have given Shepard Smith the 8p hour! He is their best newsman. Possibly, their only newsperson besides Bill Hemmer.
