Ariana Grande broke her silence today about Monday’s deadly attack at the end of her concert in Manchester with a heartfelt letter and she promises to do a benefit concert for the victims.
The singer said, “My heart, prayers and deepest condolences are with the victims of the Manchester Attack and their loved ones.
“There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better. However, I extend my hand and heart and everything I possibly can give to you and yours, should you want or need my help in any way.”
She then continued with, “I have been thinking of my fans, and of you all, non stop over the past week. The way you have handled all of this has been more inspiring and made me more proud than you’ll ever know. The compassion, kindness, love, strength, and oneness that you’ve shown one another this past week is the exact opposite of the heinous intentions it must take to pull off something as evil as what happened Monday.
“YOU are the opposite.” And the impactful one liners didn’t stop there as she wrote, “We will not quit or operate in fear…We won’t let this divide us…We won’t let hate win.”
Then she promised to return to Manchester with a star filled benefit concert to honor “the ones we lost, their loved ones, my fans and all affected by this tragedy” who will remain on “my mind and in my heart everyday and I will think of them with everything I do for the rest of my life.”
Since the concert is in the process of being set up, she promises to share all the details once everything is finalized.
I think she is suffering from survivor’s guilt, even though there is nothing more she could have done and it isn’t her fault. But that reaction is normal in this case. We need to give her time to heal just like everyone else who was effected by that night. A night none of us we will ever forget. We won’t be afraid to go to concerts, we will just be more aware of our surrounding like we are when we go to a movie theater. Terror won’t win as much as they want it too. Love will! Be kind to strangers and that little effort can make this World a better place. I know I sound all peace, love and harmony; but I truly believe it makes a huge difference. So sue me!
