Mom is going back into production on September 14th. However, one of the leads of the CBS sitcom won’t be on the set. Anna Faris, who plays the daughter, has left the show.
“The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career,” said Faris. “I’m so thankful to Chuck, the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”
According to The Hollywood Reporterw, her character will be written off of the show.
They did not say why she opted to leave but did say it has nothing to do with COVID-19 concerns.
Faris has a successful podcast, Unqualified, so maybe she wants to focus on that fulltime? I am sure we will find out soon enough if it is something more.
UPDATE: Mom co-star Kristen Johnson hinted how they will write Christy off of the show. Johnson wrote, “I can’t say much, but I can promise her character is moving on to an awesome (sober) life. That’s what I was told, anyway.”
