Yesterday Andrew Silva and Chris Weidman were battling it out for the
UFC middleweight title belt and one bad break in the second round ended one of their dreams, possibly forever. Weidman checked one of his opponent’s kicks with his leg and Silva’s shin shattered from the impact. Although it was not noticeable what happened as it happened, in the replays you can see his leg do something no leg is supposed to do.
At this point it is too soon to find out of this is career ending injury for Silva, but it is what his career will be known for from now on.
The Spider did have a message for his fans on Twitter, “Brasil sinto muito não queria ter desapontado vocês dei o meu melhor eu juro” which roughly translates to “Brazil, I’m sorry to have disappointed you, I did not want to. I gave it my best. I swear.” He gave it more than his best and he should be proud! Hopefully he will be back in fighting shape before we know it.
