January 8th, 2020 under ABC

We know that Modern Family and How to Get Away with Murder are ending this season, and now we know when they will be saying goodbye.

The sitcom, who helped remind networks that we still need them, will end its run on Apil 8th. Then a week later, American Housewife will take over its slot. About time ABC realized what a gem they have with this show.

In order to remind Modern Family fans about Housewife, it will take over its old time slot, which is occupied by Single Parents (not liking this news), starting on March 18th before moving to 9p the following month. Shark Tank is moving back to Fridays starting on February 28th.

What about HTGAWM? It returns with new episodes starting on April 2nd and will get murdered on May 14th.

Finally, The Conners will go live February 11th on both coasts (take that other networks who do live shows). What happens that night? The New Hampshire Democratic presidential primary. Results will be shared live during the episode. ABC describes that special as “Mark (Ames McNamara) watching the results of the primary for a school report with Harris (Emma Kenney), who is apathetic to the electoral process and believes money’s influence in politics means real change is impossible. The rest of the Conners share their differing takes on why they all think everyone should vote, including their working-class perspective that you may have to vote for a candidate you don’t love but one that will ‘screw you the least.’ All of this happens against the backdrop of romance when Louise (guest star Katey Sagal) gets an opportunity that might send her away from Lanford, prompting the family to interfere in Dan’s (John Goodman) complicated relationship with her by throwing Louise a surprise going-away party, creating major new tensions between Dan and his daughters.”

Got it all? If not, your DVR will!

UPDATE: ABC made more announcements today. The Oscars will once again go hostless. Former Oscar host, Jimmy Kimmel, will host 8 episodes of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire starting on April 8th. That is not the only game show coming to ABC. Later this year, we will see Leslie Jones hosting Supermarket Sweep. Finally, they are shooting a pilot with the original cast of thirtysomething for a sequel to the show that is about their kids. It will be interesting to see if it gets picked up to series.
