ABC already is making plans for next summer, ordering a reality series that will search for the best celebrity impersonator in the country. Specific plans for “The Imposter” are still being set, but the production will scour the country for individuals who can do a great impersonation of a famous person, be it a musician, actor or athlete. The best of the best will be rounded up for an impersonation contest that will entail more than just looking like a particular celebrity. “If you’re impersonating Madonna, for instance, you can’t just lip-sync, you’ll have to really perform,” said executive producer Peter Engel, who hopes to attract cameos from the celebrities being impersonated if “Imposter” reaches hit status. “Imposter” also will be casting a host and panel of judges. The prize is still being determined. ABC has ordered eight episodes. Also executive-producing is Barry Katz. He and Engel are the producers of NBC’s talent show “Last Comic Standing.”
