Tom Bergeron has some news to share about Dancing with the Stars, and it is not good. He wrote, “Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me. It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?”
I am grateful he still has a sense of humor about it because I don’t. Out of all of the elements of the dancing competition show, he is the only one that is worth keeping. He is the glue that keeps it all together.
They could get replace of all of the judges. They could replace his bland co-host. They could replace all of the professional dancers. But they cannot replace him.
He is quick-witted, warm, and comforting to all of the contestants. He is by far the best part of the show. I don’t get it.
Especially, when this upcoming season is going to be full of so many unknowns because of the coronavirus pandemic. We need him to make us feel comfortable during this time. There is no one that is as good as him to do that job.
DWTS’s loss is going to be someone else’s gain. He is the best reality host, and I am sure he will be snapped up faster than a Quickstep.
I mean, who else could have handled Marie Osmond’s fainting better than he did. ABC has made a lot of mistakes, and this is their biggest.
How do you feel about Dancing with the Stars going on without him?
UPDATE: ABC and BBC Studios released a statement, and it sounds like they are going to go hostless. “Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the _Dancing with the Stars_ family. As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success. Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom. Fans have been rooting for her since she originally competed as a contestant back in 2010, and her signature sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show.”
Here is my thinking, they are going to do the show remotely. Therefore, it will be too much to have any hosts, and figure where to place them in one of their boxes. They will probably just have that British guy introduce the dances and then have the judges critique them. It makes sense, but it does not mean I like it. What do you think?
