Yesterday, it was revealed that Abby Lee Miller went under emergency surgery for an infection affecting her spine. Turns out it was not an infection, but it is most likely Burkitt lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. According to
Eonline, they are waiting for the final results of the test before they confirm the diagnosis.
Lymphoma Action describes it is a rare, fast-growing cancer of the lymph nodes that is often fatal if not diagnosed early. If it diagnosed early, then she will go under intensive chemo-immunotherapy, which is chemotherapy with antibody therapy. The site says she will most likely start treatment immediately and stay in the hospital throughout all of it. Her prognosis is good if she responds to therapy.
Dr. Hooman Melamed also told the E! that she may require an additional surgery on her back.
She has a rough couple of months ahead of her, so here is to hoping those months go as smoothly as possible.
I wonder what happens to remaining part of her sentence. Will they just let her go with time served or will she have to go back to the halfway house when she is done with all of the therapy for the cancer and to rebuild her muscles?
Talk about having a really sh!tty year. She started it out in prison and then it will continue with months in the hospital and therapy. She was a little over a month from getting her life back and now it is going to take longer until she can teach dance again.
