Marc Cherry gave us Desperate Housewives and Devious Housemaids, and yet his newest show might be his best one yet. Why Women Kill takes place in the ’60s, the ’80s and today. The one thing that all three of these wives, from different eras, have in common is their husbands are cheating them. It is a story as old as time.
Each week, we saw how they handled their husband’s infidelity. One befriended her husband’s mistress, one had an affair with a barely 18-year-old neighbor boy and one invited her lover with them. What could wrong? A lot. Tomorrow on the season finale, we find out how it all ends for these housewives.
While their tale ends tomorrow, CBS All Access announced today that the show will be back for a second season with new women who want to kill. Unless Cherry does a Ryan Murphy and brings back Ginnifer Goodwin, Lucy Liu and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as different characters. Which I am perfectly fine with.
This show had me hooked from the very first episode and gets better with each one. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, they trick you. Last week’s episode definitely prepared us for a finale that will leave us as satisfied as all of the mistresses.
If you have not seen this soapy show, then you must watch, darling. It is the perfect campiness we all need in our lives.
