Have you ever wondered what Barney looks like under that purple dinosaur suit? David Joyner has finally came clean to Business Insider that he is the man who played him from 1991-2001.
Believe it or not, he got his degree in electrical engineer technology and worked at Texas Instruments for 6 years as a software analysis before becoming a live mannequin. Joyner’s family is clairvoyant, and on the way to audition he knew he was going to get the role that changed his live forever.
What was it like wearing that suit? It weighs 70 lbs. and can get to over 120 degrees inside of it. To make matters worse, he was not able to see anything when Barney’s mouth was shut. In order to prep for that, he would go home and practice picking things up with his eyes closed.
What go through him all of that? Tantra and spreading love. Love that was easy to spread thanks to Barney’s infamous and addictive song.
What is he doing now? After several guest starring roles on shows like Shameless, ER and That ’70s Show, he is back to wearing another costume. This time he is Hip Hop Harry, a rapping bear that is delighting kids on YouTube.
I don’t know about you, but I am happy to finally see what Barney really looks like. It is also cool to see that he is so much like the character he played. As in happy and spreading love because I love you, you love me…
