14 Carrie Underwood “Before He Cheats” 53,429 (-6%) Total: 1,339,043 (12)

46 Jordin Sparks “A Broken Wing” 21,903 (New) Total: 21,903 (-)
58 Jordin Sparks “I (Who Have Nothing)” 18,162 (New) Total: 18,162 (-)
70 Blake Lewis “Time Of the Season” 14,748 (New) Total: 14,748 (-)
76 Blake Lewis “This Love” 13,288 (New) Total: 13,288 (-)
91 Blake Lewis “When the Stars Go Blue” 11,434 (New) Total: 11,434 (-)
121 Blake Lewis “I Need to Know” 8,814 (New) Total: 8,814 (-)
170 Jordin Sparks “To Love Somebody” 6,681 (New) Total: 6,681 (-)
176 Blake Lewis “Imagine” 6,558 (New) Total: 6,558 (-)
So why did I say that the singles were not doing that well? Here is how the other the American Idols did the first week of their release:
Clay Aiken “This is the Night”: 393,000
Ruben Studdard “Flying Without Wings” : 286,000
Kelly Clarkson “A Moment Like This” : 236,000
Taylor Hicks “Do I Make You Proud”: 228,418 (CS: 190,619)
Carrie Underwood “Inside Your Heaven”: 170,528 (CS: 131,504)
Fantasia “I Believe”: 142,141
Bo Bice: “Inside Your Heaven”: 121,423 (CS: 108,158)
Katharine McPhee “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”: 74,965 (CS: 47,394)
Diana Degarmo “Dreams”: 65,000
Considering that only Diana Degarmo did worse than the two current American Idol contestants, I would say things are not looking good for their eventual album sales. That is if Blake Lewis does get an album deal, which I am sure he will, it is just not going to be by Clive Davis.
