File this under major ouch. Almost 9 million people watched Leanna Mitchell win the first season of The Voice in The UK, but only 895 (yes there are no zeros after the 5) of them bought her self-titled CD according to Radio times. That means she only sold one record for every 10,000 people who watched her win the title. It gets worst the album charted at #134, not even in the top 100. Painful.
I didn’t know who she was until I saw this story and even I feel absolutely horrible for her. But then again at least she got to release a CD, something she probably wouldn’t have done without out the show. Although with those numbers, she probably could’ve sold just as many if she made it herself and sold it on a site like CDBaby.com.
