DANIEL POWTER’s BAD DAY hit has become the best-selling digital song ever thanks to US fans. The 2005 international hit became a smash all over again earlier this year (06) in America when it was used as a weekly theme on hit reality TV show AMERICAN IDOL. Canadian Powter even performed his debut during the show’s finals and then watched as the track climbed to number one on the Billboard charts, where it stayed for five weeks.Now, the tune has reached another milestone – the single has sold more than 1.6 million downloads in the US. The track has become one of the biggest debuts of all-time around the world it was the most played song in 2005 in Europe and it reached number one in 12 countries including Powter’s native Canada, Britain, Australia and Japan. The news of Powter’s latest milestone could not have come at a better time for the singer/songwriter – he began his first US tour on Monday.
