[ # ] Get schooled on what makes a model during tonight’s Remodeled
January 24th, 2012 under The CW

Tonight on Remodeled at 9p on The CW, we get to see what is one of the biggest scams in the modeling world…modeling schools. It should be common knowledge that you don’t pay to learn how to be a model, your agent should teach that to you for free if you can truly make it in the business.
Tonight when Paul Fisher and his staff go to one of the agencies in their Network, they find out the owner runs a modeling school there and they are flabbergasted. When I spoke to his VP Olga Tavarez and him recently they shared with me why it is so important to watch tonight’s show. Tavarez said, “We are so happy with that episode because it is going teach so many people across America what the school is. It is actually a scam. I think it will be a great educational thing for everyone to see.” And then Fisher added, “You can’t teach somebody to be 5’10”. No matter how much we try. You can’t teach them.” And when you watch, you will see that several of those students are not even close to that height.
So I had to find out from him what it takes to be a model and what advice he has for someone who wants to be one. He let me in that secret, “The first thing you say when someone wants to be a model, ‘DON’T!’ Run from us. Do something else. But if you are 5’9” to 6’ tall as a girl or 6’1” to 6’3” as a boy, 15 to 19 starting as a girl. If you are that and there is something inside of you, driving you. The things other young people can look up to you and you can be a good role model, then maybe, just maybe you should think about it. Other than that. Run away from people like me.” Olga also let me know what she thinks it takes, “I think people take it a little too personally. It’s really a business about aesthetics and if you have what it takes. It is a lot kinder to tell someone, ‘You are not going to make it in this. It really is not a personal thing. Don’t do it. Don’t waste your time.’” She then added, “If they really have what it takes, anyone else who tells them otherwise or tries to steer them, again it is like a scam. It is unkind. People might interpret it as not a nice thing to say; ‘Oh you don’t have what it takes to be a model.’ Actually it is a really positive thing to know at the beginning instead of finding it out years later.” That is so true about so many things and especially for a profession that has such a short shelf life.
So what do they want the viewers to take from the show? This is what Fisher wants you learn from Remodeled, “So people can actually see the real world of modeling industry, so they can know, should I put my foot into that, should I not put my foot into that? So they are going to see the real world.” He concluded with, “I think it is very educational. It is going to be the first time that people can actually see what the real business is really all about. It’s not lights, camera, action. It’s hard and there are intense characters like me.”
So now you know what he wants you to learn from the show, what did he learn from his work on the Docu-series? Here is what he got from the lesson, “I learned that sometimes my communication skills suck. I learned that I cannot speak to each and every single person the same exact way.” I can tell you after talking with him, he seems to have learned his lesson because he is so much different than what you see on television. And I am learning from his show what it takes to be part of such a tough industry and it is even tougher than I thought.
