Comedy Central, which is under the Paramount umbrella, was taken over by Skydance, which is led by a trump supporter.
Therefore, many of us were wondering what that meant for the future of The Daily Show, which is not very trump-friendly. Today, we got an update on the news program’s future.
Jon Stewart has re-signed his contract to continue hosting on Mondays through December 2028, a role he resumed in February 2024. He will continue to work alongside the news team: Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Troy Iwata, and Grace Kuhlenschmidt.
“Jon Stewart is a generational talent, and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central. We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award winning news team,” said George Cheeks, Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer, Skydance TV.
Hopefully he will stay on past that date and trump won’t past January 20th.
