So, I have a friend who is getting me into watches, and I told him I like the ones that light up on their own. Then he explained to me that some of the watches made before 2000 used Luminescent, which makes them glow in the dark.

Why am I telling you this? Because, while I like the idea of things glowing in the dark, I don’t necessarily want my food to do that. However, Sour Patch Kids are releasing gummies that glow under blacklight online today.

How do they do that? The Strawberry-Watermelon Glow Ups are layered with special edible confetti that emits a fluorescent glow when under a blacklight due to the use of turmeric extract.

“The SOUR PATCH KIDS brand is known for its mischievous personality and willingness to experiment with new flavors and formats,” said Grace Howard, Senior Brand Manager, Mondelēz International. “With Glow Ups, we wanted to create a candy that goes beyond just taste—something that delivers a multi-sensory experience and surprises fans in a way only SOUR PATCH KIDS can. Bringing this idea to life was a journey fueled by creativity, innovation and a lot of delicious experimentation. We can’t wait for fans to experience the glow for themselves.”

Part of me needs to try them. The other part of me is scared to do it. However, I put turmeric in my tea all the time. I am conflicted.

Plus, I don’t have a blacklight because I don’t want to know if my hotel room is full of old cum. So, what will I be able to do to make my candy illuminate? Sour Patch Kids came up with a Snapchat filter that will let you scan the candy and see them glow.

The shining gummies will be available in stores later this month. And they won’t be alone. If you don’t like sour, you can try the Swedish Fish Mini Strawberry-Watermelon Glow Ups later this month.
