Celine Dion has been suffering from a very rare neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome. It has caused her to have uncontrollable muscle spasms, and it can affect the ways she walks, talks, and sings. Therefore, she has made very few public appearances over the last several years.
However, yesterday, she made a surprise appearance at the Grammys to present Album of the Year to Taylor Swift.
As soon as Dion’s name was announced by host Trevor Noah, the audience of her peers stood up and cheered the singer, who was presented with that award by Sting and Diana Ross 27 years ago.
She told her fellow musicians, “Thank you all. I love you right back. When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart. Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world.”
And hopefully, soon, she will once again be able to share her music with the world on tour.
But until then, we will be getting the documentary I Am: Celine Dion about her health struggles over the last few years on Prime Video later this year.
