Frank Bonner passed away yesterday at the 79 from Lewy Body Dementia according to his daughter Desiree Boers-Kort.
Bonner is best known for playing the plaid-wearing, sleazy salesman Herb Tarlek who never stops flirting with Loni Anderson’s character on WKRP in Cincinnati. He will always be associated with the infamous Thanksgiving episode. However, I think his best episode was the one where they did a reality show with his family. It was so brilliant and ahead of its time, and it was because he was so believable in this episode that made it stand out.
He continued to act and had many great guest star roles throughout his career. He also worked behind the camera and directed several TV shows and movies, including every episode of TNBC’s City Guys.
Bonner will be remembered as a hard worker, loyal husband, and all-around fine person.
Today, let’s remember him by watching every episode of the timeless sitcom WKRP.
