Tonight at 8p on NBC, uptight Zoey (Jane Levy) loosens up on Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. When I say loosen up, I mean she gets high. Imagine her power to hear people’s heart songs when she is on edibles?
What finally caused her to loosen up? Remember when last week’s episode ended, and she was reunited with her childhood neighbor Aiden (Felix Mallard)? He is no longer a child, and boy is he a man. The two have a heart-to-heart, and he sings a heart song to her that changes her way of thinking.
So much so that she decides to take the day off from work. However, she takes it on a day that her boss decides to plan a surprise visit to the office. When she is not at work, Danny (Noah Weisberg) tells her he is going to come to her. That wouldn’t be a problem if she had not just taken an edible. What happens when he shows up just as it starts to have an effect on her?
Danny is in town because of a problem with her team’s project, Chirp. He asks Simon (John Clarence Stewart) to be the smooth things over with the press. However, the problem causes him to question things with SPRQ Point. It is a moral dilemma for him, and he is going to have to make a decision that might cost him his job.
While he still has a job, Max (Skylar Astin) and Mo (Alex Newell) are trying to get their restaurant that doesn’t sell food off the ground. They are having some problems that will only be made more complicated when his judgemental father comes to town.
He is not the only one dealing with judgemental problems, so is Maggie (Mary Steenburgen). Now that she turned down her client, he hates the landscaping job she is doing at his house. Will she lose the first job she has had since her husband died?
Even though someone sings Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten tonight, the episode is perfectly written. If you are not watching, then you are missing out on the original show on broadcast television.
One spoiler, wait until you see Stewart’s song and dance number. Whenever he gets a solo, he makes the most of it. Tonight is no exception.
