Today the Great White Way got some terrible news. Broadway will remain closed until at least May 30, 2021. That means the curtains will have been down for over 14 months by then, devasting the community and Manhattan.
“With nearly 97,000 workers who rely on Broadway for their livelihood and an annual economic impact of $14.8 billion to the city, our membership is committed to re-opening as soon as conditions permit us to do so. We are working tirelessly with multiple partners on sustaining the industry once we raise our curtains again,” said Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League.
As someone who grew up in NYC and spent many hours watching Broadway shows, this news is so depressing. Why can’t people realize this is a deadly virus, and we need to treat it as such. Wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, get the flu show, and stop being a covidiot. It is not that much to ask for.
I want to go back to normal. However, I can’t because people think they are invincible and don’t believe in science. Well, they are not, and science is real. Stop being selfish, and think of others. WWJD? Not what those covidiots are doing. He sacrificed himself for us, what have you done for him?
