Michael Ausiello is reporting that Melinda might become a widow on Ghost Whisperer this season. Now I wonder if the shadow that was missing in the season finale was actually her husband played by David Conrad and not Professor Payne played by Jay Mohr as suspected because he left the show to do Gary Unmarried.
Personally I hope they don’t kill him off because I really like him.
Here is a direct quote from TVWeek: “The Ghost Whisperer” will kill off the husband of star Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character, Entertainment Weekly reports, citing people it didn’t identify. The character, played by David Conrad, likely will reappear on the CBS drama to communicate with Hewitt’s Melinda, the magazine says.

I hope they don’t kill off her husband. I think he’s an important part of her life in Grandview and shouldn’t be killed off.
Just a note to say that rumors are flying that david is leaving the show. If he does I will not watch one more episode. They are a great couple one of the more fun and stable marriages of Tv Land. I hope he doesnt go!
First the best friend, then the professor, now Jim. Jim is Melinda’s safe place. She needs that on the show. Slowly my favorite show is becoming one that I will no longer be staying home Friday night for.
What’s wrong with you people??? How could you possibly kill off Jim. Their love and relationship is what kept the show going - a pleasure to watch. It’s nice to see love displayed instead of the usual garbage you see on TV. I am saying goodbye to the show.

If Jim really does end up dead, I am no longer watching Ghost Whisperer. I am 25 years old and actually cancel all plans on Friday night until after 9 when “my show” is over. I can’t believe you guys brought in Jaime Kennedy who SUCKS in real life let alone in this show! My bf can’t even watch it with me now because of how disgusting Jamie is- and now if Jim is gone along with the rest of the cast that I used to love, then I am done with this crap. Melinda needs Jim!
Now that the episode has shown with Jim’s death, I will no longer watch either…i also enjoyed the stability of their marriage in the show and now I can not even enjoy it despite whatever plans to show him as a ghost or whatever. I will come back when he does!
Re: Ghost Whisper. I just hate that Jim is dead unless it is just a nightmare and he re-appears when Melinda wakes up . What is going on? This is just awful. Jim and Melinda’s loving marriage was so central to the story. Big mistake!!!! I used to love this show.
I agree with other comments made regarding Melinda’s TV husband. I probably won’t watch the show anymore if Jim’s character dies. Their relationship is so important to the show. It would be a shame because it is such an entertaining show. Anyone every heard “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!!. Listen and learn TV people. They did the same thing to Jericho. Fools. Who makes these crazy decisions anyway.

If Jim dies on ghost whisper I will no longer want to watch the show It was nice to see them as a happy couple who was trying so hard to have a baby. I looked forward to Friday nights to watch the show if he goes I will no longer rush home on Friday to watch the show

Jim and Melinda’s relationship is one of the reasons my daughter and I love to watch this show. While the show itself is so entertaining, it’s nice to see a couple on tv who are so well represented as a loving team. If Jim goes, I can say that it will be a HUGE disappointment and we may not watch as often as we do. PLEASE keep him around!!!!! What were the execs thinking?????
