After months, if not years, of speculation whether or not Katie Couric would leave her hosting duties at CBS Evening News, the anchor finally confirmed the news to
People. She told the magazine, “I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News. I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future.” She is still working on what her future will be, and I think she should be done with network news and that includes cable too. I personally never got her appeal and never took her seriously as a journalist. So I was surprised that CBS hired her for their biggest news broadcast five years ago and I have been even more shocked that they kept her on the air all of this time. Especially since the ratings have severely declined since she joined the show. When it comes to who should replace, I could care less because I have no intention of watching. I am like most people and I get my news from the internet.
Now when it comes to the above interview she did, I wonder how CNN’s original President Resse Shoenfeld feels about her departure. Since I agree with his original assessment of her.
