Don Vito, the co-star of MTV’s “Viva La Bam,” will make an appearance at a New Castle bar Friday, less than a week before he appears in a Colorado court to defend himself against sexual assault charges. Vito, whose real name is Vincent Margera, was charged with two felony counts of sexual assault on a child in August for allegedly touching two girls, ages 12 and 14, while signing autographs at a mall in Colorado. The 50-year-old uncle of “Jackass” star Bam Margera was released on $50,000 bond after spending a weekend in jail. He was ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 and to abstain from drinking alcohol. Local promoter Damon Feldman, organizer of the Gators event, says he doesn’t have any concerns about hosting Vito, who he’s known for two years. He says Vito is innocent. “I know him pretty well," Feldman says. "He’s a real nice guy and he’ll have no problem explaining the situation to people.” Feldman says the Gators event, which is only open to people 21 and older, will be Vito’s final public appearance before going back to Colorado for a pretrial hearing on Oct. 31. The appearance, he says, was booked before Vito’s arrest. Gator’s manager Chuck Burchfield says he hopes Vito will be on his best behavior. “It’s a concern, but it’s too late to do anything about it now,” Burchfield says. Vito, who lives near West Chester, Pa., will sign autographs and take photos with fans Friday night, Feldman says. Vito was scheduled to appear at Kahunaville in Wilmington last month, but his appearance was cancelled by club owners who didn’t feel comfortable hosting him at their “family restaurant.”
