Mary Hvizda has been drumming for almost 50 years, but she never got the attention that she has gotten in the last few days. The
Coalition Drum Shop posted a video of the 63 year old drumming at their shop and posted it on YouTube. Something she never heard of until recently according to
WKBT. But now nearly 2.5 million views later, she is very familiar with it as we are with her.
While she has been dubbed the Grandma Drummer, it might not be the best name for her. As she told WKBT, “I can’t get used to being called Grandma. I’ve never had children of my own and I never got married, but I am 63 and that is certainly grandma’s age.†So what should we call her?
