Pete Doherty was involved in a bloody brawl with an Italian photographer, it was reported. Doherty, 27, was left covered in blood after coming to blows with the unidentified paparazzo outside his hotel following the end of his band Babyshambles’s Rome gig. The singer allegedly jumped on the photographer and punched him several times before the two were dragged part. Reports said that the incident as witnessed by several female fans, invited back to the band’s hotel following their gig at the city’s famous Piper Club. One witness said that Doherty’s head was "dripping with blood" and that band members had grabbed metal ashtrays to use as weapons in the brawl. Police were not called and the singer was treated by fans and band members while the photographer was said to have gone to hospital for treatment. The concert itself, the final of five dates in Italy, had been marred after a spectator threw a bottle at the band’s drummer, prompting the band to walk off stage. The crowd had earlier been provoked when Doherty threw his microphone stand into the audience. There were no reports of any injuries. At the end of the gig he pushed over amplifiers and the drum kit before smashing another microphone stand several times before walking off. Today the band were due to return to England. It was also reported that the photographer would be filing a complaint against Doherty.
