I am not a Godfather fan. The only thing I know about the third movie is that some say it is the worst sequel ever made.
Well, Francis Ford Coppola is hoping to rectify that in December. Paramount Pictures is releasing a new edit of the film that has been remastered. Godfather: Part III also has a new name. It will now go by Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. Type that without copy and paste.
“‘Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone’ is an acknowledgement of Mario’s and my preferred title and our original intentions for what became ‘The Godfather: Part III,'” said Coppola. “For this version of the finale, I created a new beginning and ending, and rearranged some scenes, shots, and music cues. With these changes and the restored footage and sound, to me, it is a more appropriate conclusion to ‘The Godfather’ and ‘The Godfather: Part II’ and I’m thankful to Jim Gianopulos and Paramount for allowing me to revisit it.”
THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleon will be in theaters and on home video in the final month of the year of the film’s 30th anniversary. Be prepared to go to the mattresses to watch it.
Are you looking forward to seeing the new edit of the movie, or do you think it should swim with the fishes? I am tempted to watch the first two films and then go see the new version of the final film in the triology. I wonder if I would enjoy it more.
