It has not been a good month for Patti LuPone. First, she was hit by COVID-19. Then she was hit on the head by roses while taking a bow during a curtain call after a performance of Company.
Was she upset by it? She told Page Six, “Why did the video go viral unless it was to give people a good laugh and a release from the insanity of the world right now, which I’m all for.”
However, she has a message for others who would like to do the same, “But I think we need to school people who want to throw roses to the stage to aim for the feet, not the head. And take the thorns off!”
And the person who threw the roses got lucky. Lucky, the gloves didn’t come off because I would never want to be on LuPone’s bad side, ask Madonna and Glenn Close.
